Hey Clipper fans, just wondering how the Clippers view Eric Gordon. Is he looked at to be untouchable and a big part of the future? Or would the Clippers be willing to deal him for a SF like Wilson Chandler? Thanks in advance!!

Trade Gordon for Chandler? You are kidding right? Chandler is worthless, probably worse than Gomes/Butler/Aminu.
EG isn't untouchable but I guess it would only be possible to trade him for equal young talent or a great vet which would put the team in contention for atleast a good playoff spot.

Did you mean Aminu for Chandler?

That's not a possibility at all.

There are only a handful of untouchables in the league imo. Gordon isn't untouchable, but he would only be moved if the team was getting a serious upgrade that made sense now and for the future. Chandler is not going to get it done.

Chandler's definitely not worth EJ, but I don't think he's worse than Gomes/Butler/Aminu. He's probably an upgrade over any one of them.

Thanks for the replies guys, especially the ones that kept it civil. The reason for me asking is because I am a Knicks fan (Clippers my 2nd favorite team) and the Knicks are looking for a more traditional SG. I do watch a lot of Clipper games and EJ is my favorite Clipper currently on the team. As a Knicks fan I really wanted to see what EJ can do in the D'Antoni system but of course as a Clipper fan I understand his talent. But Chandler isn't a scrub or worthless. He is 6'8 that plays 3 positions and is a solid all around player at 23 years old. He just doesn't have the range that the Knicks are wanting from their SG spot. His Midrange game is pretty money, solid defense, and takes it to the rack hard, but his main weakness is his 3 point shooting. After next season when Chandler goes somewhere else there will be more people liking his game. Just because he's a Knick most teams think he's a scrub. Best of luck next season, I'll be watching a ton of Clipper games again this season.

If you watch the Clippers you know that a trade for EJ for Chandler straight up won't work.

I don't want to disrespect either player, but watching tons of NY and Clipper games. I think Gordon is overrated and Chandler underrated. The problem being is that Gordon was picked so high in the draft and shows potential, while in my opinion is getting shut out of the offense too often. While Chandler on the other hand was picked late in the draft, plays for the Knicks which fans of every other team seems to hate. Calling Chandler a "scrub" or whatever just shows that you haven't really seen him play. He may get overrated by Knicks fans but that usually goes the same with any player from the fanbase.
I do live in Los Angeles and I like watching Clipper games, and I dislike the other LA team. I actually go to quite a few Clipper games yearly because I have access to luxury box and I almost always go to the Clipper/Knicks games when they're here.

Gordon needs to take the next step in the NBA. His rookie season was great, partly because he just played really well, partly because it was his rookie season (which implies hopefully better things in the future.) So hopefully those better things are coming as well.

*No personal attacks* Eric Gordan is a million times better than Chandler! Ive been watching him play for years, he was a star in high school, a star in college and he will be great in the NBA, only question is, will he be great with the Clippers who can NEVER develop talent

It's not that Chandler's a bad player, it's just that Eric has a chance to be A REALLY GOOD PLAYER. Eric played better his rookie year than he did last year, but hopefully under VDN system, we'll get to see Eric really shine this year. Eric has his faults, lack of a mid-range game, ballhandling, but he is a lights-out shooter. If Baron looks for Eric more this year (last year Baron basically looked for Kaman), then I see a breakout year from him. EJ also plays pretty good perimeter defense. No doubt we could use Chandler, but we'd still be looking to upgrade his position.

I agree with the others, that Gordon is on a different level than Chandler. From what I've heard, Chandler is a good player. He isn't a scrub. But it seems like Gordon has a higher ceiling than Chandler, and because of that, a deal straight up for the two wouldn't make sense on the Clippers part. Gordon has the chance to be special, and it would take quite a deal for him to be traded.

I agree that Chandler is not a bad player. I'm not trying to trash him. I would have rather have had him than Thornton. He's just not of the same caliber as Gordon imo. On a large scale, I would not say that Gordon is overrated, he's usually an afterthought. Clipper fans may do a little overcompensating for him, but part of that is due to the lack or acknowledgment that he is given in respect to his peers. Last year is probably a year that he would like to forget. There wasn't much improvement, he was injured numerous times, and his percentages were down across the board. VDN has a lot of faith in him and it seems that Gordon will be featured more this season. I'm hoping that the Team USA experience (regardless of if he makes the final roster or not) is positive for him and that it adds a little something to his game. He did look more confident and that is something that he needs if he is going to take his game to the next level.
