2010 Power Rankings

I thought that it would be a good idea to see where we stand in the NBA Power Rankings. I know our record hasn't been very good the past few seasons, but by showing the Power Rankings we can discuss our record. I will update this every week.
Even though we currently have the worst record at 5-21 we are not last in the Power Rankings.
Here is our ranking from NBA.com
http://www.nba.com/2010/news/powerranki ... index.html27 L.A. Clippers (5-20)
Pace: 94.3 (18), Off: 99.7 (27), Def: 107.2 (23)
The Clippers had Wednesday's game against the Lakers in their hands. Up five with 1:14 left, they didn't even miss a shot the rest of the way. But they were done in by two Eric Gordon turnovers and Derek Fisher's (barely) buzzer-beating drive. Another one-point loss (to Memphis) followed.

I'm surprised that we are ranked that high in either link. It feels like we're the absolute worst team league. I know that our record confirms that, but we have close company (Sacramento, Washington, Minnesota, etc). A few wins could move us a few notches. The team recently had a player's only meeting and I'm hoping that will light some kind of spark under them. We can name all kind of reasons why we're 5-21, but people only know wins and losses. Other teams manage to win in spite any type adversity that they may be going through. We're better than what we have shown and I would like to see us play up to our potential a little more often.

Wow, we're 23 on Hollinger's today. I think that one has something to do with the strength of schedule.

numba2, the power rankings is a great idea. not to hijack this thread, but what if we did a weekly Clippers report with the power rankings in it? we could also include the week's highlights, quotes, news, etc. just an idea...

Yea the rankings are influenced by strength of schedule. Scoring differential plays a big roll as well if i remember correctly. I also don't believe any of the teams below us (24-30) are better than us at all (Min is pretty close though)

We are #26 at this weeks NBA.com rankings.
L.A. Clippers (7-21)
Pace: 94.2 (17), Off: 100.4 (24), Def: 106.9 (22)
Break up the Clippers! They've won two straight on the road for the first time in a year. Saturday's win in Chicago was just the fourth time in 14 games that Baron Davis has scored in double-figures. The Clipps play 11 of their next 13 games at home and won't leave California until Jan. 20.

We are ranked #21 on Hollinger's Power Rankings.
http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerrankings?page=2And by popular demand here is my weekly update on our Clippers.
Our record from Dec. 13 - Dec. 19 was 2-1. We lost to the 76ers 91-105, beat the Pistons 109-88, and beat the Bulls 100-99. We finally won a road game and we currently have a two game winning streak. Blake Griffin lead us with 20 points and 18 rebounds in the loss against the 76ers, 24 points and 17 rebounds in the win against the Pistons, and 29 points and 12 rebounds in the win against the Bulls.
Sadly we lost Brian Cook to a right ankle sprain in our win against Detroit. Chris Kaman is still out with a left ankle sprain. However Randy Foye did come back from a hamstring injury last Wednesday against the 76ers.
Here are some highlight plays from last week.

NBA.com now has us at #25
http://www.nba.com/2010/news/powerranki ... ef:nbahpt1L.A. Clippers (9-22)
Pace: 94.6 (17), Off: 101.0 (23), Def: 106.0 (20)
The Clips have now won four of their last five, holding opponents under a point per possession and getting big numbers from Blake Griffin (25.4 points, 69 percent shooting) and Eric Gordon (21.6, 50 percent). With their home-heavy schedule continuing this week, they might actually be able to keep this going.
We are still ranked #21 according to Hollinger's Power Rankings.

Even though we have 10 wins we have moved up to #23 in the NBA.com Power Rankings
L.A. Clippers (10-24)
Pace: 94.5 (17), Off: 101.2 (23), Def: 106.5 (24)
In this season's most stunning development, the Clippers were the league's most improved defensive team from the first month of the season to the second. After allowing 110.8 points per 100 possessions through Nov. 30, they allowed just 100.9 in December. They also improved offensively.

good to hear we are improving, but what does it matter? unless we get like 30-12 record last games we are not making playoffs.

We just keep rising in the Power Rankings
We are now #20 on the NBA.com Power Rankings
http://www.nba.com/2011/news/powerranki ... index.htmlL.A. Clippers (12-24)
Pace: 94.8 (17), Off: 101.4 (23), Def: 105.7 (21)
It's a shame that the Clippers were so awful for the first seven weeks of the season, because it would be fun if they had a realistic shot at the playoffs. At 7-3, they're the second best team in the West since Dec. 17, but would probably need to win at least 30 of their final 46 games to make the postseason.
We have risen to #19 on Hollinger's Power Rankings

We are #19 on the NBA.com Power Rankings
http://www.nba.com/2011/news/powerranki ... ef:nbahpt1L.A. Clippers (14-25)
Pace: 95.0 (16), Off: 102.0 (22), Def: 106.1 (23)
After wins over the Heat and Lakers, we can't help but do some math ... Over their last 13 games, the Clippers have the point differential of a team that will win 29 of it's remaining 43 games. That would put them at 43 wins, which is one more than the eighth-place Blazers are on pace for.
As of now we moved down to #20 on Hollinger's Power Rankings

We moved up to #18 on the NBA.com Power Rankings
http://www.nba.com/2011/news/powerranki ... ef:nbahpt1L.A. Clippers (17-26)
Pace: 95.2 (15), Off: 103.0 (17), Def: 106.9 (23)
The Blake Griffin Show continues, from 47 points against the Pacers to 30 and 18 against the Warriors, including a big 3-pointer just to make things interesting. Now, he and the Clippers must take the show on the road, where they're just 3-13 and have played just three of their last 15 games.
We are still at #20 on Hollinger's Power Rankings

No surprise that we moved down to #19 in NBA.com's power rankings
http://www.nba.com/2011/news/powerranki ... ef:nbahpt1L.A. Clippers (18-28)
Pace: 95.2 (14), Off: 103.0 (20), Def: 106.8 (23)
After four losses (two back in November), the Clippers got their first win without Eric Gordon (out a month with an injured wrist) on Saturday against Charlotte. Randy Foye, Gordon's replacement in the starting lineup, has increased his scoring in each of the last five games, dropping a season-high 21 in the win.

We haven't played that well without EJ and our Power Ranking is dropping. The team is down to #20 on NBA.com
http://www.nba.com/2011/news/powerranki ... ef:nbahpt1L.A. Clippers (19-31)
Pace: 94.9 (15), Off: 102.8 (21), Def: 106.9 (23)
It's very possible that the Clippers are back to being the Clippers again, and it's certain they're heading back to the lottery. They're 2-5 since losing Eric Gordon, have dropped six straight on the road, and have just one home game remaining in February. And that's against the Celtics.

EJ is not with the team in Orlando. He went back to Los Angeles to get re-evaluated. Supposedly, it's not feeling much better

Besides that win against the Knicks last week sucked.
#23 on NBA.com
http://www.nba.com/2011/news/powerranki ... ef:nbahpt1L.A. Clippers (20-34)
Pace: 95.0 (13), Off: 103.0 (19), Def: 107.1 (22)
It just had to be the Clippers that lost to the Cavs, didn't it? Perhaps Blake Griffin has hit the rookie wall. He's still racking up double-doubles and providing the highlights, but he's had some poor shooting games over the last couple of weeks, including that 11-for-26 performance in Cleveland.
