Clippers to sign Ike Diogu

"We're going to have to find a way to weather the storm here for the next couple of weeks," Clipper coach Vinny Del Negro said, not aiming for a clever weather-related line. "Be creative with our lineups and adjustments."
Creativity extended to bringing in some emergency help. To add depth to their injury-depleted squad, the Clippers are expected to sign 27-year-old power forward Ike Diogu as a free agent on Wednesday.
Diogu, who is 6 feet 9, was at the team's practice facility Tuesday afternoon for a workout session. Diogu, a lottery pick in 2005 (No. 9 overall), had microfracture surgery last year on his left knee. He has bounced around since starting his NBA career with Golden State and was cut by Detroit just before the regular season started.

If he's fully recovered from microfracture surgery, he can really help. It was only 1.5 years ago when he dropped a career high 32 with the Kings:

I don't know how I feel about signing a guy just coming off of microfracture that has already had a tough time trying to find his way in the league. I'm sure that the options were thin, but I would just have preferred someone a little bigger. Perhaps Earl Barron who was just released by the Suns.

Diogu is similar to Craig Smith in that they are both undersized (heightwise) scoring PFs. With Craig out the second unit lacks a low post scorer and Earl Barron is too similar to Cookie due to both being jumpshooting big men.

How about making Kaman play or trading the guy? He's played like in 10 games and sucked it up in 9 of those games.

He is actually in Tel Aviv playing for Maccabi.
He had his chance and he sucked in summer league. He has been playing really well in Euroleague and Israeli league though.

And the conspiracy against Josh Boone continues... And this is after I remember reading this article a little while back.
Josh Boone Hoping For NBA Return
Nov 07, 2010 5:05 PM EST
Former Nets forward Josh Boone is hoping to make a return to the NBA.
The center is playing in China this season.
Boone met with the Cavaliers in the offseason and had a few other teams invite him to training camp, but none offered him a guaranteed contract.
"It should be short term," Boone said of his stint in China.
"I know, as do a lot of others, that I am an NBA-level player. But unfortunately some decision-makers didn't view me as being worth anything. I'll have to see what happens with the lockout next year. But I'd like to come back."

Well we needed to sign somebody. Hopefully Diogu will help us during his time as a Clipper.

Josh Boone, yeah I would choose him over Ike in a heartbeat.
Boone is still young, left school WAY too early & got screwed w/ the Nets. How long is Ike's contract for? If it is only for 10 days then the Clips can explore other options.
