hes been playing well. Next step for him is to get him up to consistent 35-38 minutes per night to see how he responds. I think he can get up to then 11 pts 11 rebounds 2.5 block shot level with those minutes

Sounds good as long as he can stay out of foul trouble to play that long

I've been really imperessed with DJ lately. He is shooting with very high % (well, he is not actually shooting 90% of his baskets are dunks) getting boards and blocks but most importantly he is staying out of foul trouble.

I'm satisfied with his improvement so far. For awhile it looked like DJ wasn't improving and reached his peak, but it looks like that wasn't the case, at least for now. Hopefully he keeps his fouls down and stays on the floor.

Yeah he's been playing much better as of late. He may be a capable starter if he can continue to improve at this rate.

Im glad he doesnt get those defensive 3 seconds as much as before.

If he continues this consistent play, we should resign him to a long term deal.

I agree DJ has really improved. Maybe playing with Blake has helped him. Even though he is still a dunker he can actually put the ball in the basket in other ways. I've really like his defense lately, I think DJ is finally starting to get how to play in the NBA.

He needs to be re-signed. I don't know how much he'll command, but we do have his bird rights to match any offer. His offense is limited, but we don't need him to have the ball in his hands trying to create for himself. Dunks, put-backs, tip-ins and lobs are fine for now. What we do need from him is defense and rebounding. He has improved in defense and he's had a nice impact on the floor as of late. Of course there's room for improvement, but he has made big strides imo.

Having Blake around will push him to work harder to improve his game and to become more focused. He's talking about training with Howard and potentially Hakeem next offseason. That has me excited and I hope it goes down. Our players have been putting in work together since getting the new facility, but having the chance to pull and draw from influences with more talent/knowledge/experience is invaluable.

I would love for him to work out with Dwight and Hakeem. That would do wonders for his game. I also think he will only get better and better with Blake's influence.

+10. If DJ can play good defense, be a presence on the boards and in the paint, and run hard, it really doesn't matter if he never develops an offensive game- he will be a starter and contributor on this team.

That's it. He'll get points off putbacks and stuff which is enough. OTOH if he learns a bunch of offensive moves but doesn't play solid, consistent defense, he's not worth nearly as much to the team. He'll never be more than a #4 option on offense, so even if he improves there the ball is generally going somewhere else.

It's pretty obvious from watching him play that defense is where his upside is anyway, if he can really improve his footwork. If he can just consistently establish decent position on defense, his athleticism and long arms will take over from there.
