Andris Biedrins - 0.9bpgClippers and their stars are getting worn down"We were a little fatigued," Baron Davis said. "But the most important thing I was proud of is that we continued to fight. We just probably ran out of gas at the end. Our shots got short."
Griffin, who matched a career high in rebounds, was asked if this was the most tired he has been in his short NBA career.
He nodded, saying: "Yeah, probably. I've been playing a lot of minutes both nights, and before that, Lakers and Indiana, back to back. Just got to make sure I do a good job of getting my rest."
But the Clippers need to find a way to stop Griffin and Gordon from wearing down, especially with a daunting upcoming schedule. Of their next 19 games, only five are at home and that stretch includes five back-to-back situations.
Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro said after the loss that the team couldn't rely on just Griffin and Gordon, who had 35 points against Portland and a career-high seven three-pointers.

Clippers' Rasual Butler stays ready to answer callCoach Vinny Del Negro told the swingman that the team was going to go with the kids. Butler was asked whether he knew this might be a possibility when he re-signed with the Clippers in the summer
"No, I didn't," he said. "But you've got to enjoy the journey."
"Just stay in the gym and work hard and be prepared whenever your opportunity presents itself again," Butler said. "It's the only thing you can do. No need to be negative about it.
"It's a good group of guys around here. I've been around a little bit, although I'm still learning. I just started playing the last few years. But from the things that I've seen in my career and some of the situations I've been in, I have information I can share with the guys, especially some of the younger guys."
So, is he a patient guy? Butler hesitated.
"I am. Sometimes you're forced into a role where you have to be patient," he said. "I've been blessed with the ability to be patient."

DeAndre Jordan has become anchor of Clippers' defenseReporter: "I'm too young to know Wally Pipp. But I know about Wally Pipp."
When it was explained in greater detail that Pipp got hurt and lost his starting job to Lou Gehrig, never got it back and the rest was baseball history, that triggered a response from Jordan.
"Ooh, that's tough," Jordan said. "That's tough."
He knew where the line of questioning was heading: Chris Kaman, meet Wally Pipp.
Lakers Coach Phil Jackson said Jordan was the reason the Clippers were operating at such a high level. He clarified that he meant Jordan, not Clippers shooting guard Eric Gordon, who is having his own breakout season.
"Oh man, [Jordan] is the reason why we've been such a hot team," Davis said. "A lot of the things he's able to do on the defensive end allows us to be a great defensive team. That 41%, our field-goal percentage, that credit goes to him. He's our anchor.
"For a young guy, 22 years old, to be able to be back there and anchor that defense, it is amazing to see his growth and his progress. Just that confidence we have in him."
Said Jordan: "I kind of came into this season knowing that whether I played 20 minutes or 35 minutes [a game], whatever it was, I was going to be ready. I just tried to work this summer. Nobody knew that Chris was going to be hurt and that I was going to have to step up and play. That's what I did.

Gonna be a tough match up again. We need to bounce back from the Portland game. I'm not surprised that the starters are a little worn though. Some have played for extended stretches just to keep the team competitive.

Ellis was injured last night and had to be carried off. I think we can beat them with or without him, but it would be a lot easier if he's out.
Anyways, defending the 3 ball and protecting the ball is the key every game. If we do this, we should win.

Boy, do I hate reading about Gordon/Griffin being tired/fatigued. It just makes me more pissed off about the Kaman, Smith and Cook injuries. I'm sure that they hate being injured and really want to play, but they need to get RIGHT quickly. Also, might be a sign that we really need a legit. third scorer.
Anyway, I really don't like to use the phrase "must win" anymore, but this game is very important, as we're fighting these guys for the 8th, and we really need to get back on track after our last loss. I'm confident that Portland will slump the second half of the season due to their injuries, but we need to take care of the rest of our competition.

He's back... apparently being carried off was precautionary because it was the ankle he had had surgery on, and late in the game no one wanted to take a chance with it. No idea if he'll be playing today, but I wouldn't be surprised. Either way, I'm hoping to see a high scoring up-and-down the court affair, should be fun.

VDN has to maximize his bench we don't have the best bench in the league but we can't force the issue with our starters. Giuve guys like Warren, Butler, Collins, and Aminu more time on the floor to take the strain off our starters.

To be honest I think we would be better if our second unit backcourt was Foye at PG and Butler SG but seeing as we are unlikely to get into playoffs I guess the young guys need time.
Unlike the majority of the board I can't stand all the rookie mistakes. Bledsoe is shooting about as bad as Baron Davis and turns it over at an insane rate. I would maybe even like to see what Warren could do with his minutes. I understand I will be hated for it, but I don't see Bledsoe as the future PG for the team.
Aminu/Butler deserve minutes however because Gomes flat out sucks. I didn't even realize how bad his stats are this year.
Anyways, really looking forward to the game.

Butler needs to play. Just like many of you I'm concerned of EJ and Blake playing 40+min a game. It raises the chance of injury, soreness and lowers their production on offensive but especially on defensive end.
We saw how Aldrige killed Blake when he was really tired later in the game.
I understand with all the injuries our options are limited, but bringing someone with a 10 day contract should be considered.
It would push the game significantly to our way if Ellis sits out this game.

Collins is currently on his 2nd 10-day contract. If we want to keep him after, he'll have to be picked up for the rest of the season. If we opt not to, then we'll have the 15 spot available to pick up random 10-day players. Hopefully some of our bigs will be back soon.
