Game #53: Clippers @ Cavaliers
Posted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 6:16 pm
by Det the Threat
After finally winning another one on the road at Madison Square Garden, the Clippers will head to Ohio to face the team with the longest losing streak in NBA History.
The Cavs, who had the leagues best record last season, lost Lebron James last summer and with him they seem to be lost, being beaten in 26 straight times.
Though, even with them having the worst record and that huge losing streak, the Clippers aren't a team that should take anything for granted, as they'll try to win only their 6th road game of the season and are trying to avoid the embrassement of being the team that helps the Cavs end their losing streak.
Injury report:The Clippers will be without: Chris Kaman, Craig Smith and Eric Gordon
The Cavs are missing:Mo Williams, Anderson Varejao and Leon Powe
When and Where?Friday, February 11th, 4:30 p.m. PT, Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, Ohio

5 Questions:Will Blake start another double double streak?
Can we count on the other guys producing like they were in NY?
Will Baron be able to dominate their point guards?
How will Blake do on defense against Jamison?
Will DJ show up and protect the glass like he did in December and early January?
Discuss and Go Clips Go!!!

If the Clippers lose to the Cadavers, I'll take Alba out to dinner.

Det, nice thread as usual. 1 question. Have the Clippers won for you all season? I hope they can pull it out for your sake or
This is a dreaded game for me. I don't want us to be the team that finally gives them that win. The Cavs are not as bad as their record and have played hard on occasion against good teams. Scott really chewed the guys out after their last performance and they could be fired up for this one. Mo Williams is back at practice and could be back in the line-up against us. That may be enough motivation to fire them up a little. Powe joined him in practice, but is shooting for a return on Sunday, which is fine by me. If we beat them, I have every intention of watching their match-up against the Wiz.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Yeah, this game is kinda rough. I was really rooting for Detroit to lose to them yesterday. They really have no size, so we have to force the issue in the paint, specifically with DJ and Blake.

Exactly. Playoffs or not, if there's one thing you don't want, it's to be the poor fools to break the Cavs epic losing streak. We've been doing pretty good as of late, but too many times before, we've beaten a playoff team, only to lose to another bottom-dweller team the game after.
As long as not too many of our guys go 2-8, 5-15, etc., we should be alright. Expecting Blake to have a monster double-double.

Nope, I'm 0-4(I think), trying to break the odds.
Let's hope they finally win one, with me creating the game thread.

Yeah, they've got nothing to lose.
They've already embrassed themselves and certainly will play hard, trying to show people that the can still win and beat an up and coming team like the Clips.
Anyways, we'll need others to step up, next to Griffin, like they did in NY, or we'll lose this one.

The Clips shouldn't have any problems winning this one, especially when the Cavs are super thin in the frontcourt. Blake can have himself a hell of a game.

I feel pretty optimistic about this game. I think this team has too much pride to lose. They know it would be awful to be the team that the Cavs beat to end their historic losing streak. I know Blake wouldn't to hear his name associated with this.
If we don't look at win and losses and just look at rosters we should be able to win. Both teams have injuries, but we do have an advantage inside.

I voted for the Cavs to take this one in the poll. I hope I am wrong, but I remember the Clippers being on both ends of the Denver Nugget 20+ game losing streak in the late 90's. They lost at home in that one and must have lost to Nuggets by close to 20 points, the game wasn't close. I remember being at the game, what a dreadful performance.
Hopefully Blake can dominant on the inside and stay out of foul trouble, I think it will be a close game, one way or the other. The Cavs have been playing better in the last 2 weeks.

Just got word that Mo Williams will be playing in this game. It's something I wasn't expecting.

He practiced earlier this week. It's a shame he couldn't mark his return against the Wiz or somebody else.

Watching the Cleveland broadcast temporarily. Cavs announcers were saying that they think the Cav's could get whatever they wanted on the Clippers offensively.

I'm not so sure that's true, Jamison is the only player I see as a real offensive threat
