Seems like it was on a newspaper ad...Main thing was that it read something like Celebrate Black History Month with us on our game on March 2nd. Really hope someone gets fired for this for being such a (Please Use More Appropriate Word). It's enough that the Clippers reputation is what it is, but to just add on to it makes us look even worse.

Well, to be somewhat fair, we did only have 2 home games in February. Chicago on the 2nd and Boston on the 26th. We could have used a 1000 kids rooting for us in either of those games, but that's probably why they didn't use those games (to make more money). A fair amount of Bull and Celtics fans were at those games. STH's often give up (sell) their tickets to those type of games, which is understandable, but it comes out looking like we're nearly the road team in our own building.

Yeah, I see what you mean, MK, but in that case, they should have just left the Black History month out, and just say something like "Celebrate fan night" with 1000 free tickets, to be accurate.

The part I thought that needed to be fixed was the wording with "underprivileged" to celebrate Black History Month. I get what it's about (besides the tax write-off), but that does not sound good at all.

The thing that doesn't make any sense is that it's limited to "underprivileged" kids. Anyone can cut out and bring the ad. What's the criteria for "underprivileged" and how are they going to make that judgement? Terrible.

I believe according to Sterling, Black = underprivileged

It was poorly planned, tha'ts for sure. But i doubt sterling, as much as i'd love to rag on the guy, personally had a hand in making the ad or the ill timing of it. I'm sure there's some grunt down the line in marketing/sales that dropped the ball on this instead.

Underprivileged does not have to be synonymous with black or African-American. I believe the organization had good intentions for this "celebration", it just wasn't handled the right way. It's to our disadvantage that the team only had 2 home games in February, sounds like this just needed to be planned better. Maybe this idea came late and should have been done next season. One the bright side you don't always have to celebrate Blake History Month in February. The heritage of African-Americans can be celebrated everyday of the year.
