Ive been watching him all summer here in Indy he plays in the pickup games a lot. He has been here all summer I know his mom he has a great family and a main reason he has got so good is his Dad. He coached him as a kid and taught him to play the right way.

Cant wait for the season love watching him play

Nice interview. He's getting more comfortable during his interviews. I'm thankful that, because he was really rough when he started. He wants to work on low post scoring and want improve his ball-handling. I'm glad he recognizes those areas that could be upgraded. He wants to limit his turnovers and acknowledges he tries to do too much in traffic at times (which causes turnovers). Strictly basketball 2 days/week, spends the other 3 days on conditioning.

He talked about rookie hazing. He sang happy birthday to his teammates throughout his rookie season. He had to buy donuts everyday. Blake had his car filled with popcorn and balloons. He also brought up the pink Dora backpack that BG was forced to wear.

He was asked about playing for the Pacers, but the interviewer didn't really push the issue. The question was more based upon the challenges that a player may face playing in front of his home crowd. The interviewer brought up Steve Alford (who Pacer fans wanted over Reggie Miller). Gordon agreed that the pressure of bringing success could be a burden that a hometown player would have on his shoulders (when the fans are counting on the player to turn things around).

Thanks for posting nets4nets :)

Ya Eric reminds me in a lot of ways personality wise of Larry Bird really quite. He also is always at home like Larry was every off season he loves Indy as much as Larry loved French Lick.

Most days you can go to the Center he talks about or North Central his HS and he is in there putting up shots.

Another guy who reminds me of EJ at least HS wise is Bradly Beal they put up very similar stats in HS and play very similar both shooters who play the game the right way and play defense even though they are a bit under sized.

But like EJ says he has put on a few lbs of muscle.

I cant help but hear when he says he had to get the team donuts that was all Barons doing lol glad that bum is gone.

Well at least his family doesn't have a farm that he has to work on. I've heard/read about the comparisons between Beal and Gordon, but haven't really had much opportunity to see him play yet. I can totally picture Baron's beard with powered sugar and crumbs in it. I like Baron, but I think he puts too much non-basketball activities on his plate (no pun intended). He has a natural gift that other players can only dream of, but the preparation isn't the same as the other top players in the league. He was our best player his second season on the team when Lucas came onboard. If he were in that shape for all 3 years, things could have been much different, although we probably don't have Blake if things went well in year 1.
