Clips fans, why wouldn't your team want to have D12 AND CP3?

I know this will never happen but by god it makes SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much sense!
Clippers deal Eric Gordon and Minny 2012 first round unprotected pick for Paul. Cant see Hornets turning this down as its everything Stern wants for Paul, a young all star and a great future pick.
Now the Clips offer Blake for Howard. Not sure about Cap room possibilities but if they have to throw in Kaman or whatever to get it done the Magic will auto accept.

IMO Howard is better then Blake and still almost as young as Blake, thus making him a better player.

Clips would need assurances that they will both resign with them and they are title contenders THIS YEAR.

Howard
Jordan
Aminu
Butler
Paul

Why wouldnt they do this?

Not trading Blake! Gordon Stays, DeAndre is good Buddies w/ Blake & will improve. Players WILL WANT to come to Big Market So. Cal Team & get their SWAG on!. Why sell the farm, when you don't have to?
Getting rid of Blake, now that is funny. He fits in a s a Clipper, he is bringing us attention, he is a marketing dream & you want to trade him for someone 3 years older, who is demanding a trade? Keep your trade, I'll keep our Superstar.
B3, I like my line up better
Jordan
Blake
Caron
Eric
CP3 - trade w/ NOLA ( Kaman, Aminu, Bledsoe --- maybe 1st Minny-if extension is signed)

Clippers then Amnesty Mo, get his money , see if Chauncey wants to come & play for 8 million for 2 years.

There is no reason to overpay to that extent considering the situation ORL and NOH are in ATM

They Would Never Trade Blake!

Apparent tax on the rich (in assets)

Like I've been saying, other teams (and their fans) expect the Clippers to overpay just because we have the abundance of assets to do so. I guess the organization's history of incompetence allows for such expectations more than most, but it's absurd to think that the Clippers should and will include Eric Gordon when the Warriors didn't want to part with Stephen Curry.

Heck, NOLA was happy to settle for Lamar Odom in a package when he's being peddled for a top-20-protected draft pick yet Eric Bledsoe was traded for a top-10-protected one. Yes, the Hornets were also going to receive Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, and a draft pick (Knicks' top-5-protected?) but Martin & Scola combined are not worth either Gordon or the Minnesota pick by him-/itself even if you don't factor in the premium of young inexpensive assets that should appeal more to a rebuilding team.

Also, this idea of trading Blake Griffin is a non-starter. Nevermind that this will never happen but the Nets are only offering Brooks Lopez and two draft picks (Houston's top-14-protected and their own, which would be less valuable after acquiring D12). While acknowledging that Lopez is more valuable given the premium of youth and an inexpensive contract, Chris Kaman is arguably a more productive center especially when you factor in Lopez's lack of rebounding prowess recently. And the Clips are supposed to throw in a rising(?) superstar to beat this package?!

This is the exact situation that I am looking at. Though, since Chauncey is amnestied, we would need to win the bidding for him and take that much of his current contract, which is only for one more year.

It makes sense to you because you are getting the future of the NBA in Blake Griffin. I feel the same as Jerry West said. When asked who in the NBA would you trade Blake Griffin for he said without any pause "nobody!" I like Howard and would love to have him on my team but not if it means losing Blake. I would rather have Jordan if that is the case.

best bet to get CP3 and Dwight would be...

Bledsoe/Aminu/Mo Will/Kaman/MIN 1st for CP3/Ariza

Gordon/Gomes/SnT Jordan(before he signs with GSW) for Dwight

IF ORL was adament about adding Hedo then would have to add in Foye/Cook but that IMO is not a dealbreaker if you can land Dwight while keeping Blake.

you could always use amnesty on him if so desired :)

would then need to fill out bench with cheap players looking for rings, done. :P

CP3/Butler/Ariza/Blake/Dwight = SOL Miami and LAL there is a new game in town.

It's the Clippers man LMAO. Any other team will hand deliver Blake, Gordon and whoever the **** else on the team for Paul and Howard. Blake/Gordon won 30 games last year LMAO. Blake Griffin will never be a center piece. He's HORRIFIC on defense.

And what pray tell has Dwight Howard won exactly, team-wise? I don't see any rings on his finger despite being the dominant big man in the game. He came into the league winning 36 games in each of his first two seasons with deeper and more stable rosters than what Griffin & Gordon have had. Plus, Blake made the All-Star team in first year playing in the league, which Howard didn't accomplish until his third season.

It's obvious that Howard is more valuable than Griffin right now and will likely prove to be so when both their respective careers are done but nobody in their right mind is going to trade a potentially young superstar-in-the-making for the possible one-year rental of a more established superstar, especially if the younger player is still on his rookie contract.

Nice use of hyperbole to make your point there. BTW I'd rather have 10 Blake Griffins on my team than one with just a single Dwight Howard. Not only would we have a better cap situation but we'd have a much better chance at a championship since Howard has proven he can't carry a team by himself, which is exactly the point. Griffin is trying to change the culture of an entire organization and lead while Dwight is looking to latch onto another team because he couldn't get it done. Which one sounds like more of a winner?

This may be a league built on superstars, but it's still a team sport and if you can build a team around a certain superstar with a stronger supporting cast, you do that over gutting your team to acquire a different superstar.

Guys, seriously.

If I were a Clippers fan, I would want CP3+ Dwight IN A HEARTBEAT. You are stuck on Blake Griffin? Seriously?

Howard is about to enter his PRIME, and so is CP3. They are a match made in heaven. Are you serious?

NOT TO MENTION, the amount of SWAG AND RESPECT the Clippers would instantly gain for crapping all over the Lakers and taking both CP3 and Dwight where the Lakers failed to do.....

seriously........ I can't believe there are CLip fans that would rather have Blake Griffin over Dwight.

dude......

dude.

If you acquire Chris Paul + Dwight Howard, BOTH OF THEM WILL RE-SIGN A LONG TERM CONTRACT WITH YOUR TEAM!

Just remember, you are giving Dwight exactly what he wanted. To live in Los Angeles, a big market team with Hollywood connections and media exposure. Instead of the Lakers, the Clippers.

Why on earth would you think they would NOT re-sign? CP3 and Dwight would immediately become partners in crime.

You guys are nuts. I would be on the radio shows and e-mailing/tweeting reporters about this to get the front office attention to think about this.

Layers to making a trade.

None of us are objecting to having Dwight Howard and Chris Paul on the team. I already said that Howard is more valuable than Griffin, but that is not the argument and we can also debate another time whether a team of basically just D12 & CP3 is worth giving up all our assets, but there are a lot of issues at stake here. One of which is the presumption that they will re-sign here long-term. If it's such a foregone conclusion then why have neither made gestures to that effect towards the team. By all accounts, the team is willing to up its offer had they received such indications.

Plus, in light of Brandon Roy's premature retirement, Chris Paul's troubling knees are nothing to dismiss. If they realize that the Nets and Lakers are no longer options for them, then why haven't they tried to push for a combination package to join the Clippers? The whole point of them coming here to begin with is to play with Blake Griffin, not in place of him. We won't and shouldn't trade the entire team, including Blake Griffin just to have these two guys try out playing together as Clippers, especially for a shortened season.

What happens if CP3 injures his knee? He'd probably blame it on a Clipper curse and hightail out of here with Howard already out the door. What are we left with then? How stupid would this organization look after that? Blake Griffin has shown he's unafraid of such a "curse" and is proactively changing the culture of the organization.

This whole point is moot, anyway, because we're not going to get both with DeAndre Jordan signing an offer sheet, which the team has to decide on. In either case, he is untradeable for at least six months(?) and he'd be a necessary asset to be used to acquire both.

You can't wait for the players to make announcements. How do you think the Lakers and Heat and other top teams get these guys to do things? They sell them a dream, and convince them.

Why don't the Clippers get into Howard/Paul's ears and sell both of them of the idea of playing together in LA... for the Clips.

They would absolutely re-sign. They get what they want, to play together! Dwight gets to play in LA!

I bet Dwight hasn't even realized the CLippers are a possible landing spot. He probably had tunnel vision. If someone sits down and explains this to him, it will dawn on him and he will wonder why he never thought of this in the first place.

This would completely turn the Clippers from laughing stock to BADASSES! What a way to immediately become championship contenders, gain gigantic superstar power, AND stick it to the Lakers.

Gosh, I am excited FOR you and I'm a long time Heat fan! I know you love Blake Griffin, but you got to let go bro. You take Dwight Howard + CP3 and run.

Far be it for me to temper your enthusiasm with our team, but I'm sure Olshey & Co. pitched the idea to them. Again, the appeal here in the first place is Blake Griffin. Take him away, and there really is no incentive for them to come here even if it is together. They can pull the same thing in New Jersey.

As it has been painfully obvious for Clipper fans over the years, players will not come here until our reputation changes. The Lakers aren't considered a world-class organization for nothing and we are only now making headway, so it wouldn't be at all prudent to prematurely abandon that direction at the moment on the off-chance of something more without any commitments.

Ah, but the Clips have a huge advantage over the Nets with Dwight Howard. A "trump card", to use the parlance of our times. You see, the Lakers do the same thing to almost every superstar.... and the Clips, by default of being in LA, can employ the exact same strategy.

Dwight seems to be VERY attentive to this strategy when the Lakers used it.

"hey dwight, no other city in the world can give you access to Hollywood and media exposure like Los Angeles. Have you ever thought about an acting career? You can make that happen here. Look at Shaq, he made several movies when he came to play in LA. Commercials, more exposure, it's all here, Dwight!" etc and etc you know the rest, no need to

The Lakers did this exact sort of pitch to Shaq, and it seems they tried again with Howard. Dwight is interested in this sort of thing too.
