I really hope he doesn't mind being here, but it is a risk worth taking.

Man I hope so too. I would have to imagine that Olshey put out a feeler to Chauncey's camp on this, before pulling the trigger, right?

We just committed to 2 expensive older PG's, but no matter. Chauncey is super solid and I would love to have him on the team. Too bad Mo Williams wasn't 6 inches taller and could be the outside shooting wing man that we need.

This basically is a sign that CP3 is done, over and out. Hopefully we can improve the team in other ways.

I say good bye Chris Paul, Hello Eric Bledsoe's MENTOR. Bledsoe can be special, especially if he has a Tutor like Chauncey.

We probably didn't pay him much of anything. The Knicks will be paying the majority of his contact.

I see this working out the way Cassell did when we dealt for him. Billups'll be solid for us and think he'll be happy here.

How does the whole contract situation work out. The Knicks amnestied him correct? Does us picking him up off of waivers mean that we pay his old contract or sign him to a new one?

And maybe this could be a sign that the Paul trade is on if we trade Bledsoe/Kaman/Aminu/Minny pick and then amnesty Mo...

Who is Brian Windhorst ? How credible is this?

Do the CLippers make a bid for him? I thought amnesty players had to go to the highest bidder?
In that case its not certain.

This also might be a move to show Hornets (Stern) we are not bluffing when we pulled out of Paul talks. We'll move forward without him and they wont find a better offer than what we gave.
Now, they would have to come after us to take Paul.

Congrats guys.

Great fit IMO, and he's not with Miami to help them do what they couldn't last year.

I love your squad, gonna be exciting, esp. if it includes DJ.

I like this, I like this a lot, but I want to see how the team will make room for him before I get too excited. I'm not down with amnestying Mo or Kaman as they can get one assets in the market.

Very curious to see how much we paid for him. He's going to crush it shooting three's with EJ and Blake Griffin getting double-teamed. Up until now, teams doubled on Blake and dared us to take three's. Also really like that we brought in a veteran. Really hope he doesn't choose to retire, and that he comes to his senses and takes his money.

Let's say we bid $1M on him. The Knicks would pay $13.2M of his $14.2M. We only pay what we bid.

He's an expiring contract, so he doesn't hurt us financially in the long run.

I really like this deal, solid pick up. We get another vet with playoff experience. I just hope he wants to play with us. I'm also curious with what this means in terms of the Chris Paul deal. I do like the moves that the FO has been making.

if i understand the new amnesty rule correctly the knicks just pick up the difference between our offer and the rest of his remaining contact. not counting dj's cap hold, the clippers have around 5 million in cap space, so i'm guessing it's like a 1 year deal for 3-4 million. since bledsoe's out till january and the clippers couldn't let the cap space go to waste i think this is an excellent signing.

pretty funny that the knicks fo could have just declined his player option instead of paying him 10 million dollars to play for another team.

DJ's offer sheet does not equal his cap hold. We still have cap room left until we match his offer sheet. That is the explanation that the team made. Everybody is still trying to figure it all out.

ROTOWIRE REPORTS:

Chauncey Billups: Clippers Place Winning Bid in Amnesty Auction - 12/12/2011 3:17:06 PM

Update:
The Clippers placed the winning bid to claim Billups in the amnesty auction, ESPN reports.

Recommendation:
Billups has said that he would not report to any team that bid on his contract, but the Clippers are attractive enough of a team that he may reconsider. If Billups decides to report to the Clippers, he should take over the starting point guard job from Mo Williams. As a Clipper, Billups' fantasy value increases. No one dominates the ball on the Clippers in the way that Carmelo Anthony does on the Knicks. Billups would have the opportunity to rack up a gross amount of assists throwing alley-oops to Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.
