Post#1 » by ClipperDomination » Wed Dec 21, 2011 2:11 am

Clippers have just signed Reggie Evans.

Clippers are signing free agent forward Reggie Evans, a source said.

New LAC PF Reggie Evans averaged a career-high 11.5 rebs for Tor last season in 30 gms. Bruiser not looking for shots which is good for LAC.

This was a nice player to grab. Although he's not a center, he'll add some toughness to the bench. Both Thompkins and Cook are going to spread the floor, Evans is physical and is going to be reaching for loose balls down low.

The signing should make the Hornet match-up a little more interesting. Evans is a player that I thought would be a nice pick up for us for the last few years, and it's funny that we sign him just after trading away Kaman.

Olshey's a man on fire right now! He should definitely be in the running for GM of the year (do they even have an award for that?). He's going to get us multiple possessions, and at the same time, bring a tough, physical presence down low. A nice surprise signing.

Kaman must be shaking his head right now. Not only do they trade him, they sign the guy who "basically tried to rip them off", lol.

This move puts us at 15 players with 13 guaranteed. I don't really expect Hubbard or Fortson to stick, but I'd like somebody 6'11 or taller. I don't care if they don't ever play, I just want the peace of mind of knowing we have someone with some legitimate size.

I believe it's the Executive of the Year award. Baylor won it during the 2005-06 season.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Boston and Memphis as well as Sacramento and New Jersey were all in the hunt for Evans. He ends up here for the veteran's minimum. Times have changed.

We still have our $2.5M exception and $3.8M trade exception to work with, but this move buys us a little more time.

I dont really think we do, Mo will be unhappy if we do i suspect (or is he mainly playing backup PG) i dunno, but i think Foye/Mo/Billups will do fine without another SG. Small lineup but still i like it.

Funny how L.A. Clippers, not Lakers is a destination. I still think we should keep 13 and pounce on available talent. Fortson is fun, but he ain't gonna play on this team,Hubbard is a good....for a D leaguer. Neil, pretend you're a Doctor and be patient.

I don't believe a guard is going to be brought in for the sake of minutes. The coaching staff will play with the 2/3 matchups with Caron and Billups based on the opponent. A team like Miami will be difficult because Wade is both quicker and taller than Billups, but I think with most teams one can figure out a way to make it work.

Anyways, good signing. Reggie Evans does rebounding extremely well, he's a hard worker, and he brings some toughness and defensive ability. Like mentioned, I'm still having that itch for a guy 6'11 or over, and hopefully a guy like that can be added, even just as a 4th big man that plays when facing a team with someone like Bynum, Marc Gasol, etc

I like the deal as well. I think he will give us much-needed depth up front behind Blake and DJ. Though, I would still pursue a Mo/Foye for Okur/Raja Bell deal that I mentioned a few days ago.

I was hoping we'd sign someone taller, but this is still a solid signing. Especially if he came her for the veterans minimum. Like most of you have said I do feel weird signing him knowing what he did to Kaman. At least we have him when Kaman is gone.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

It's a good signing Evans knows exactly what his role is and rarely deviates. He's going to get you a ton of offensive boards and will become a homer for your team almost instantly.

I was also wondering what's going on with Clipper ticket prices now.

Very good signing - Evans is a very tough player - Excellent rebounder. I'm not as worried about the shooting guard position - I think we're just so stacked at the guard position - Foye, Caron, Mo, Chauncey can all play that position.
