Allen is only a 2 month loaner, I don't think we should give up alot....... maybe Leslie or a 2nd Rder.

I think we need to try to make something happen with Allen. I doubt the Celtics will want to trade Pierce and I think KG makes too much money to be traded. I can really only seeing us landing Allen in a multi team deal. Olshey needs to be working the phones as hard as he can trying to get top value for Mo and Bledsoe while trying to find players the Celtics would be intrested in. Mo makes sense for Atlanta, but I really can't see them trading Smoove. Hell if they'd give him up for Mo/Bledsoe I'd want him here over Allen.

It does seem like the Celtics will re-build. There is just too many rumors. I don't see them giving us Allen but I can see us landing him! We still have enough left asset wise to get it done!

Hmmm we can get Allen without giving up Mo in a trade that would make sense for them if they traded Rondo...

We give up Bledsoe, Foye, Cook and Leslie for Allen. I'd give them Thompkins over Leslie if that was a deal maker. I think if we can trade for Allen and keep Mo we would be the favorites.

I wouldn't do it for the sole reason that defensively, the Clippers are not a championship team. Ray Allen isn't going to change the defense, so renting him for two months and giving up assets is not worth it. If this was a case of getting a player that would be around for a little longer, then I'm totally for it.

In this scenario though, it's a two month rental to get to try to get past the second round, and I'm not really sure it it is worth it if much value is given up.

Now, of course, if he could be gotten for cheap, I'm all for it, but what are the chances that one can get him without actually giving up assets that you might want to keep.

i think ned's trade makes a lot of sense for all parties. boston gets a good star with smith, atlanta get kg and major capspace to go after a center in the off season and we get allen. my fav shooter in the nba

We need to make this happen, we need an upgrade at the SG now.

Ray would be a good fit but what can we honestly give up for him? Unless a third team will take Bleds for a first, I can't see Boston biting as with Rondo and Bradley, they seem to have their point guards.

Now, if they trade Rondo, they may want Bleds.

Break-up in Beantown?

Yet for all the talk of Boston point guard Rajon Rondo possibly being traded, some league executives have shooting guard and free-agent-to-be Ray Allen pegged as the most likely to be moved. Sources say the Clippers are interested, having lost Chauncey Billups to season-ending injury and lost out to New York in the J.R. Smith sweepstakes.

But the price is likely too high, as Boston wants a package that includes a young talent and a draft pick. The Clippers don't have the latter component, though, and there's a bit of irony involved as to why.

Their 2012 first-round pick went to Oklahoma City in a deal for point guard Eric Bledsoe, and was then moved to Boston in the trade that sent center Kendrick Perkins to the Thunder. The Clippers also had Minnesota's unprotected 2012 first-rounder, but gave it to New Orleans in the Chris Paul trade.

Even with his age (36), Allen would be a difference maker for any team looking to add offensive firepower. The NBA's all-time 3-point champion is shooting a career-high 48.6 percent from beyond the arc (third in the league) while averaging 14.8 points per game on 47.5 percent shooting overall.

The Celtics (18-17) are still in playoff position, and they have some incentive to not fall too far this season no matter what moves are made since the aforementioned pick from the Clippers is top-10-protected until 2016. Boston also has its own 2012 first-round pick as well.

Foye(expiring), Cook(expiring), Bledsoe(young player) and Thompkins(young player) for Allen. Clippers could fill out the other roster spots with Alan Anderson, Michael Finley and bring Soloman Jones back. Celtics save 3 million right off the bat with this deal and get good rebuilding pieces.

Ray Allen is expiring also, so to the Celtics they"ll probably see it more so as trading Ray Allen's $10 million expiring for Bledsoe and Thompkins. If they didn't have Rondo and Bradley, then Bledsoe could make some sense, but since they do, he's like a third PG on their team :(

I like Ray, but I would much rather have a guy like Batum.

Ray is a specialist. While a guy like Batum can pretty much do everything. Would I rather have Ray start over a guy like Foye and hit big shots? Of course.

Though there's probably no chance in hell we'd acquire Batum, I'd rather much have a young stud like him.

I'm very curious to see what Portland plans to do with its players in the next 2 weeks. They've been on a slump and guys like Felton & Crawford are now rumored in trade talks.

I'm still pissed as **** that we didn't acquire Batum when we traded Camby. I'll probably never forgive the organization for that ****. EVER!

There was never a chance of us acquiring Batum for Camby in that deal.
They've been sky high on him his first season and it seems like he's finally showing why they liked him so much.

He also won't have anything to do with their trading activities as I think they'll build around Aldridge and him, while trying to add pieces. Of course he'll be a RFA, but they'll most likely match anything outside of some insane max contract type of offers, which he won't receive.
