What's up with Caron Butler?

His play has fallen off this month. In fact he's had some horrid games. That coupled with the loss of Chauncey has derailed the Clippers from what I thought were championship aspirations.
Is he ailing?
Is his knee acting up?
just a slump?
please inform.

Missing a lot of open shots, there seemed to be some adjustment against the Spurs, got him in the post against smaller guards through the PG/SF pick and roll, used him as a ball handler, and he produced, but then against the Warriors, he went back to missing everything, including wide open 15 foot jumpshots.
It boggles the mind

I'm not sure what's happening with Caron. Maybe he's hurt and isn't saying anything. What I don't like is that he's struggling and continues to take jumpers. I think if he has an open one he should take it, if not he should try to get to the basket. We really need him to play better so I hope he can turn things around.

This is the million dollar question.
He played in 29 games last season before the injury. He took a turn for the worst after his 25th game for us. I don't know if it's his body struggling after coming off of an injury or something else.

I just don't like Caron playing tense. At the start of the season, Caron was loose & took open "good" shots, it seems now he is forcing shots. I am hoping he finds his mojo pretty quick otherwise we will be seeing more of Bobby Simmons.

Players getting into slumps offensively don't really bother me that much. You know that they'll eventually work themselves out of it. But, when a player is not producing on offense AND does a very poor job playing defense, that's what bothers me, and probably bothers most of you.
This is why we can live with a guy like Foye. He puts in the defensive effort every night, even if he can't get it right on offense.
But Butler isn't doing anything at all right now. No offense, no defense. If he doesn't start doing one of these two things, I'd like to see Simmons start.

^ I hate to say it but I agree, Butler is reminding me of Gomes. He just doesn't do anything positive. I hope he can turn it around, but I'm not that hopeful. The play of Butler is the main reason we need a trade.

I just can't wait to see this team with a new coach, a full training camp, and preseason under their belts.

I really wondered over the last few weeks as well.
Caron Butler should be playing way more better right now. Hopefully he gets better in these upcoming games & play how he was playing in the beginning of the season.

I would be alot more spiteful towards Caron if Tayshaun Prince had been playing well this year, but it seems all the best SF options this off-season are struggling. Caron is a midrange specialist, that in itself leads to inconsistencies, especially when you consider hes becoming more of an afterthought offensively. I was hoping he would be more of a scorer for us, at the least find ways to be more efficient, but it seems I was trying to fool myself.

Odom or Prince & Beasley could easily help this team. I wish we could swap out Butler/Gomes for them right now.
