The Clippers HATE
So, this is the reason I registered to this forum. I am tired of the Hate being thrown at Blake Griffin, and anything related to the Clippers. People are even talking about a 70 year old man in Ralph Lawler!!! Man...I understand that people hate on a team when they are among the leagues best but this hate is getting out of control.
I could have sworn I read someone comment on the Ron Artest elbow to Harden thread "I wish he would have done that to Blake Griffin" I mean really?
Blake Griffin and the Clippers get mentioned in every thread it is really amazing stuff. There can be a thread titled "It is raining and it is cold" and Blake Griffin will be mentioned haha...." North Korea is testing nuclear weapons" well Blake Griffin..... haha It is amazing.
And I joined because we are outnumbered. Everytime there is a Clipper game right after there are like 5 anti Clipper threads it is crazy. The funny thing is people are STILL WATCHING. I swear I even read someone say "I hate The Clippers more than the Heat" ... WOW!
Funny I never saw threads started when Mardy Collins was tearing it up for us ha... I understand that with winning comes hate but this is absolutely ridiculous. Hate comment after hate comment after hate comment, one for every 15 comments is pro Clippers its pretty crazy stuff. I would like to believe this hate is only relegated to the interwebs but no because everyone hates the Clippers even in the real world (well mostly Lakers fans).
With all that said, I rather be hated for being a Great team, than be pitied for being a Horrible team. Here is to a great playoff run and How do you guys deal with this hate HERE, or out in the real world?

I laugh and say, "yea we still don't have a banner, but you guys are nothing once kobe is gone."
At least we're relevant. I still don't say much unless they're ignorant fans. I just hope we don't riot when we win the 'ship, we're better than that.

I understand the hate for Blake Griffin. I have to admit, even I'm annoyed by his antics (staring & whining at refs). I hate the flopping too. It annoys me that irrational Clipper fans try to defend this. What I don't understand is how people call him a dirty player. There have been oh-so-many dirty plays that don't really compare to Blake Griffin's "dirty plays".
I don't care if people don't like our announcers. I enjoy them more than the Laker announcers. Mike Smith can be a tad annoying at times though. Blake Griffin tired every game, eh? Well thanks for the heads up Mike Smith.
I don't care to respond to some of the most irrational posts found in the general board, some of them being Clipper fan postings too. The culture is changing around here and everyone is getting used to it.

Welcome to the board! The Clipper hate gets out of control but just have fun with it. The hate usually sparks back up after the Clippers win a game, so just let the opposing fans air out whatever frustrations they have. Or poke at it a bit like I like to do.

Re: The Clippers HATE
It's quite interesting, I can understand people not liking Blake for some of his on court mannerisms, but hating on the guy in general as if he's some terrible person doesn't make sense. Then saying you wish someone would hit him, or some accident would happen so that he would get a career ending injury because of a flop, that's insane. Mind you, these same people didn't even say that about Ron Artest elbowing Harden (and I wouldn't want them to), that kind of stuff is uncalled for.
Ralph Lawler has been the same for years, and now he's terrible? I can understand Mike Smith because sometimes he get's too excited, and I myself am like "calm down Mike", but Ralph is a cool man, and there are few NBA fans that can really call out the homerism of other teams announcers, it's like there's a year end bonus for it.
Like jflipclip said, calling Blake dirty is a head scratcher, he doesn't battle for offensive rebounds any differently that the other top offensive rebounders do, but supposedly he's the only player that has ever gotten away with pushing or any foul on the glass. Then it's comments like "the Clippers are ruining the league", or acting like the Clippers are the first and only team to flop. It would be fine if it was one person, but there's a whole gang of people who seemingly believe that the Clippers are "ruining" the NBA. Has all logic been lost? The Clippers play 82/2460 games a year (in a normal 82 game seson), 66/1980 this season. If those 82 games are ruining the NBA, and the 66 games ruined this NBA season, the Clippers are not a basketball team, but some powerful basketball entity.
With that said, every comment by [Clippers] just makes it worse, he's way too much, and he's bipolar during games, lol
...in the end though, I'm not too bothered by it, sometimes it's quite comical how some people are more interested in trying to find Blake, CP, or the Clippers doing something wrong than they are in watching basketball.

Re: The Clippers HATE
Welcome to the board SandsB.
I will not let the hate get to me. I have been a fan of this team for far too long to let anyone cause me to not enjoy any of the success that this team has achieved this season. There's teams and there's players that I don't like, can't stand, etc, but I don't feel the need to constantly bring up my issues with those players or teams (sometimes is understandable though
). Why? Because I couldn't care less if someone else feels the same way or not. Also, if you are wishing for or applauding injury, bodily harm or worse to these athletes, then you have issues and are taking this far too serious.
People are going to hate, because that's what is inside of them. People will complain to complain. They're also always looking for confirmation and acceptance from their peers to justify their beliefs. They will blast announcers/reporters for being biased and want there to be an unbiased view from those parties, but then the poster is biased as hell lol. Some have posted statistical evidence to combat what the common misconceptions are, but that doesn't matter much, because it doesn't fit with the agenda that many want to push. It's easier to generalize and go with the flow.
Do some of our players flop? Sure. Did people complain when we were screwed by bad calls for years or if people flopped against us in the past? No. Noone cared. Did Laker fans care when they got the benefit of the calls on their way to a championship? No. Did the Bulls fans cry when Jordan got all of the calls? No. You can go on and on with so many teams/players.
It's not OK to stare after a dunk, but it's OK to dance, flex, pound your chest, yell, chest bump, jump up and down or talk trash.
People are definitely rooting against this team. If the Clippers winning or being successful is going to piss people off, then so be it.

It's annoying, but the hate just means the team is relevant. It bothers me how biased and how hateful people are toward the team. We are finally good and have a very bright future ahead of us and these people can't stand it. From the media to the dumb joe on the street. The media goes out of it's way not to mention or give the team any type of credit. Everyone all of a sudden is picking on Blake Griffin who for a 2nd year player who still has a lot to learn is great. There are far bigger floppers in the league than Griffin..come on! Griffin doesn't even trash talk, he just gives a stare once in a while. He doesn't celebrate after dunks. He whines, but there are much bigger whiners in the league. So they all get the pass and Blake is the only culprit. He's a Clipper and has a high profile, so he will get the magnitude of the hate. Even some so called Clipper fans hate on the guy. CP3 and his son booed at a Dodgers game.etc. Well let them get used to it because it's a new Clippers and there will be better seasons ahead.

The only thing that I can honestly sad that annoys me about Blake is him never challenging shots. Last year it was completely non existent, this year there was a stretch where he would do that high jump and try to swat the ball with two hands things but he doesnt even do that anymore. And I dont mean to defend the flopping, but you have to admit that Blake is only doing this because it is the only way he gets calls. A couple games ago he complained after a two handed dunk that he got hit (him always whining for a foul does get annoying) but after replay it clearly showed the opposing player swatted him across the forehead. This is why he has to flop. And people call him dirty because of little extra stuff he does after plays. Everything he does is picked at with a microscope just to find another reason to hate him and this is what people have done. A guy can try n do a little extra like dunk after the play is clearly blown dead and Blake can simply hold the guy so he doesnt fall and people will say he was trying to be dirty. When if someone does the same exact thing to Blake or something similar they will find a way to bash him.
Haha Ralph Lawler and Mike Smith are the greatest duo in the NBA. Again pinpoint Ralph and Mike just to find another reason to hate. Ralph even told Mike Smith "dont be a homer Mike Smith" Haha...btu they are so great together they literally make me laugh out loud and no other commentators do that. In some recent game I remember some nobody scored a whole bunch of points against us and it was a season high or something and I remember Ralph saying "Wow Mike Smith is more than your career totals in points" Hahahahahha or something like that hahahhaahahhah

Exactly. Right after a game is when the hate is all over the place haha. Imagine once the playoffs start?

Yeah it is amazing stuff. This soon (his 2nd year) people are already putting him in the same category of hate as a Kevin Garnett or the same category of dirty as Bruce Bowen.
Ralph and Mike tend to call things how they see them, they are the most unbiased guys ever if you compare em to lets say the Boston guys? WOW.
The Clippers are ruining the league is one of the more amazing statements. First the Heat were ruining the NBA for forming a super team, now The Clippers are "ruining" the NBA for "flopping." HAHA. The most annoying thing that these people do not understand since they have not watched every single Blake game like most of us have...is that Blake has gotten beat up all last year and even this year. Yes his flops help him get calls, but people that do not follow The Clippers have not seen how he gets clobbered and has had to resort to flopping. The guy is so strong that fouls dont phase him, ala Shaq. He has to make it obvious he is fouled for it to be called. In that case people should not blame him but the refs for being horrible at what they do

Preach!!! I am just not used to the hate. It has gotten to a point where the hate is so strong, even in the real world, that I have to be ready to fight if I want to wear my Clippers gear. It is that serious to people!!!!!

The point about Blake Griffin is true. People are giving him Lebron James kind of hate/critique when this is his SECOND year! Everything wrong with the NBA is Blakes fault now haha and the Chris Paul booing was a disgrace, but since no one likes the Clippers and most Dodger fans are Bandwagon Laker fans then the booing was expected. I am just curious what the next hate theme will be?
"The Clippers are ruining the NBA for growing playoff beards"
"Blake Griffin is the worst player in the NBA"
"Are The Clippers the reason there was an NBA lockout?"
"Is the NBA better off without The Clippers?"
"Is Blake Griffin a bust? (If the clippers get eliminated from the playoffs early)"
"Is chris Paul Overrated?" (same reason)
I mean it goes on and on haha

Funny this started, Im having the exact discussion on another board. I gotta admit, it bothers me when people start bagging Griffin about being dirty etc etc. Hating Clippers because of Blake Griffin. It bothers me but saying that... It does mean where getting noticed.
It bothers me because Griffin is such a passionate, determined and focused player. That's what should be noticed, not little whining and flopping. He's young, he'll grow out of it but he's also been involved a lot in all the hype surrounding him and 'Lob City', even if it has gotten to his head a little. I don't care, as a true basketball player I love the player he is no matter what.
what mkwest said:
"It's not OK to stare after a dunk, but it's OK to dance, flex, pound your chest, yell, chest bump, jump up and down or talk trash"
EXACTLY. I laugh at people saying hes one of the most arrogant players in the league cause he 'stares at people'. Now thats laughable

If he doesn't flop... it's a blocking foul... if he flops, it makes him look like a wuss...
i've played competitively since i was 6years old and one of my fave things to do as a defender was take charges. i've flopped and also taken a beating, taking a charge is not a wuss thing to do! i've actually sprained my rib ligaments a few times taking a charge and a sprained rib ligament is NOT the wuss-est thing ever... it's painful as a mother f'er! Imagine lebron james going full steam, and you going in and taking that charge, that ain't wuss for anything! i've been run over by someone full steam and an easy 100lbs over me, def not fun.
BG is a huge guy ye, but it's a defensive play that a lot of players do and it def takes a toll on your body.

Re: The Clippers HATE
Hate is an emotion that causes people to be irrational. The hate towards the Clippers steams from jealousy. They aren't jealous of our teams proud tradition of losing but rather the fact that with the addition of CP3 and the emergence of Blake the Clippers are instantly a contender and receive a lot of hype. Most of the people who are in every anti clippers thread posting over and over are fans of a western conference rival. Plus getting too much hype seems to turn fans against you on this board.
Once people have misguided hate or jealousy towards someone or something they try to justify it. So now we hear how our teams flopping is ruining the nba, Blake is overrated an soft (even thou he puts up 20/10 and has never backed down from anyone). We didn't hear anything about CP3's epic flopping last year when he was on an irrelevant team. One thing I've noticed is this level of hate towards the clippers doesn't extend past message boards. It's only the erractic posters that let this game get too under their skin that make a big fuss.
