Clippers reintroduce Lamar Odom (pg. 8)

What do you think of Lamar joining the Clippers? I watched alot of Clipper games last year and "normal" Lamar, not the guy who metled down last year away from Los Angeles, would bring a lot to the Clippers.

And given the Clips keep Nick. and Mo adding LO would probably get the Clips past OKC, I know you handled them 2011-2012 3-1.

Plus at this point Lamar would prob only command a contract equal to Kenyon's this year or about 2 mil.
On the court Blake and LO would create severe mismatches as LO plays a role kind of like Garnett for Celtics once Doc moved him to the C position.

what do you think or getting Odom or improving your frontline in general

Personally, I have a tough time w/ LO b/c one never knows what his mental state is + he has an entourage & tons of baggage!
To some degree it makes sense, but how much would he want???? He has already been in a Clipper Uni b4 & management chose not to match his Miami contract, what makes you think times have changed minds? If we could get him for $2mil, I might think about it, not a penny more!

After the Dallas debacle Odoms perceived value has dropped drastically. My guess is there are only a few teams that will deal with him and that only at vet min or thereabouts.

If it was possible to get him for a minimum contract, I can't imagine that the FO wouldn't take that chance, since Kenyon will be leaving. He could replace Kenyon's role, except that he would be a much better offensive player if he isn't depressed. At a minimum contract he is an easy waive.

If he is playing to his potential :sigh: then he'd help most teams. If you can get him for a cheap contract (i.e. minimum or BAE), then there is not much risk and he could be worth taking on.

I'm personally not a fan of him and his antics for many reasons and would have a hard time rooting for him even though he was on my team.

It all depends if we had a competent GM that can get the right deal.....

Didn't we have one of those? I wonder what happened to him......

I think we need to stay away from people who are head cases and at this point LO is one. We can use the money he gets on a more productive player. He didn't want to play here when we had him so I wouldn't want to bring him back.

My guess is also that he's only willing to go to a few select locations, Los Angeles obviously being one of them. If the Lakers don't want him, I don't see the harm in trying to get him. If he's in the right state of mind (I think he would be. I mean, the chemistry we saw this past season was pretty instant even with late additions Evans, KMart, and Swaggy), he's a valuable asset. Off the bench or starting: he can stretch the floor, play and guard multiple positions, handle the ball, etc etc.

He can be immature and it's hard to really see if it was all in his head or he really did drop off this past season. I'd take him.

Odom is not eligible to play again for the Lakers until the one-year anniversary of his trade to Dallas.
So if he wants to play in LA, Clippers are his best option. I'd take him for the vets min.

I thought players could be signed/traded back to their former team but would be ineligible to play for a huge portion of the season.

The NBA announced that the one year rule for players to resign with their former team after being cut is one calendar year, so Lamar couldn't sign with the Lakers again until one full year after he was traded to Dallas, so he would have to sit out til late December if he wanted to go back there. But considering he basically sat out the entire past season (effort wise), what's a few more months?

Like some of you have said, if we sign him to the minimum I don't think it would hurt. If it doesn't work out then we can easily get rid of him.

Gossip site, but take it for what its worth:

Khloe Kardashian may get to stay close to her family in Los Angeles as her husband Lamar Odom is reportedly in talks to sign with the LA Clippers!

“Lamar’s agent is in talks with the Clippers,” a source close to Lamar told Radar Online. “He and Khloe are thrilled that he’ll be returning to the team and that they will get to stay in LA and be close to their families.”

Being drafted to the Clippers would be familiar territory for Lamar, 32, who first played for the team from 1999 to 2003, before being drafted by the LA Lakers!

“Lamar wants to return to Los Angeles and the Clippers want him. They just need to work out finances and contractual issues,” the source adds.

In theory I like the idea, but obviously one is still worried about getting a version of the 35% FG and 25% 3PT Odom as opposed to the 2010-11 version that shot a career high 53% FG and 38% 3PT

good odom or bad odom? either way i don't wanna get rid of kmart, he's a damn good back up defender and bully we need off the bench. Odom is so lackluster at times, kmart at least shoes up on D every night.

the thing is neither can talk until the start of free agency unless something changed in the new cba i was unaware of. teams can engage and execute trades as long as their season is officially over. but we will see what happens.
