Really? I think this might be a great pickup for the Clips. He is that 7fter that I have been "crying" for; hopefully he can shut me up.
Do we know the terms of the contract?
I like the move, balances the Vets and Youth

Will barely get playing time, would of preferred a vet like Nazr though.

I would still go after Birdman, since he got amnestied by the Nuggets.

Get Terrence Williams and a wide body big and we can call it a wrap for the offseason.

CLIPPERS SIGN RYAN HOLLINSThe Los Angeles Clippers today signed free agent center Ryan Hollins. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not announced.
The six-year NBA veteran averaged 3.4 points and 2.1 rebounds in 39 games played last season for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics. In 17 games played during the Celtics’ 2012 Playoff run, Hollins tallied 1.5 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest.
Hollins spent his most productive NBA season in Minnesota in 2009, tallying 6.1 points and 2.8 rebounds in 73 games played for the Timberwolves.
Selected by the Charlotte Bobcats with the 50th overall selection in the 2006 NBA Draft, Hollins averaged 5.7 points and 4.0 rebounds over his four-year collegiate career at UCLA. Hollins finished his time with the Bruins as the fourth all-time leading shot blocker in UCLA history (101 career blocked shots).

I dunno - he got double digit minutes in the Playoffs for the Celtics. and 13-15 a game the two months prior - again for a pretty good team.

I agree, Birdman should still be sought after.
Celtics other bigs last season : KG, Bass, Steimsma (injured: Wilcox, O'neal)
Clippers other bigs: Blake, Odom, DJ
KG was held to 31 MPG during the season for health reasons. I think it's self explanatory as to why he got those minutes there. Hollins went down to 10 MPG in the post season and bad 3 DNP's in 20 games. That's similar to how his minutes should unfold if everyone is healthy.

Not digging this signing at all but for the price that he was had for I can't complain. We need to go ahead and just sign Armstrong and Ammo to complete the roster. We need more than 2 bigs to be top 3 in the West.

I'm all up for A-Mo playing garbage minutes but Armstrong is just TRASH.

I agree - that IS about what you should both expect and get from Hollins next year.
I was just noting there's a huge difference between "won't get any minutes" and 14.4 minutes in March, 13.2 minutes in April, 11.8 in the Conference quarterfinals, 12.0 in the conference Semifinals - as was the case for Hollins with the Celts. In Hollins, you're getting an 7 year veteren to be your 3rd string center, for the league minimum. One who, BTW is STILL only 27 years old, and one of the best athletes in the league. He IS the only center in the NBA that can literally jump over himself - At a Legit 7'0 tall, he has a 7'1 high jump in NCAA competition on his resume - as well as a 22 1/2 foot long jump, and a 49 foot triple jump. He's a guy who CAN start (55 games as as starter in his career) - won't take unnecessary shots (he's a career 57% on FG attempts), and is a solid locker-room guy.

Of course, I think by barely get playing time, LOJ likely meant that he won't get significant minutes. I do wish he could rebound, but if he could he wouldn't be a minimum player.

Clippers need a bruiser up front like K-Mart or the like.

MEET THE NEWEST CLIPPER – RYAN HOLLINSHaving grown up in the Los Angeles area and playing collegiately at UCLA, what are your emotions now that you get to play in your hometown as a professional?
Ryan Hollins: “It is huge to be able to come home and wear the Clippers jersey in front of your friends and family. You kind of grow up in it, and see the tradition of basketball in Los Angeles and know what it means. There is always something special about playing in front of your home town.”
Last season, you appeared in the NBA Playoffs for the second time in your career and played in 17 games, averaging 10.0 minutes for the Celtics as they went to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. What did you learn from that experience and how will that help you with the Clippers?
RH: “It was huge. I am not just coming in here to wear a jersey, I want a championship. I know how it felt like last year, and I know how hard it is to get to that level. [The Clippers are] deep. We’ve got all the pieces in place. I just want to come in and play my role, but that experience last year kind of left a bad taste in my mouth, a hunger. At the same time I see what it is like to play at that level, I see what it takes.”
After six seasons in the NBA, what do you think you will be able to bring to the 2012-13 Clippers team?
RH: “I can bring experience. I am going to come in and bring the little things that are needed to help us win. Whatever it takes. One minute, two minute, 15 minutes, whatever coach needs of me. It is really cut and dry right now. At this point, you come in, you put in your work and we will win and move on. We will come together as a team. We have great veteran leadership, so coming into that role and doing my job and filling a void is what I look forward to doing.”
