This pick up makes the Lakers a much better team, the Clips are going to have to RISE up & challenge the Lakers for the Division & Conference.

Blame you FO. You had the assets to get Howard--pair up the best PG with the best C in the league, claim the city and possibly win multiple titles---yet your FO decided not to take any risks and sit back and watch the Lakers form a team which is easily gonna beat everyone in the west except OKC maybe. Don't blame the Lakers or Magic , blame their "competition"...and this post is not meant to troll...I'm as pissed as you guys about Dwight going to the Lakers....

No one was giving up Blake for Howard on a one year deal while the Clippers were "not on his lost", so no the assets weren't there. The Clippers weren't "one of his teams". It is what it is, should be interesting to watch DJ battling against Howard, read: getting abused by Howard. Maybe Blake can dunk on him too

who said I wanted Howard?
it's definitely an idea that has went back and forth in my mind because he's that good but I love this current team and our core. They're exciting, fun and they play for each other.
there were similar deals to this one...that's my only beef...why did you jump the gun on the lakers deal all of a sudden?...lame
3 teams benefitted from this trade....surprisingly....ORLANDO WASNT ONE OF THEM!

By the level of the deal we should of been able to give up Butler, Mo, andpicks and got Dwight

Amnestying Ryan Gomes was a mistake and the Mo trade I still would've made.
Eric Bledsoe, Ryan Gomes, Caron Butler, DeAndre Jordan & Fillers (Leslie & Thompkins) plus 2 to 3 Future 1stsfor Dwight Howard, J-Rich and Duhon may have gotten the job done but I doubt it. They wanted to dump contracts for expirings and partial guarantees. Hennigan is high on Affalo and looking at his numbers, he could become a great attraction as a #1 option, dude can put the ball on the floor when playing smart and he was a captain for the Nuggets.
When you look at it, Hennigan might be thinking that the Sixers & Lakers may not be able to keep Bynum or Howard. The Magic will tank hard this year and most likely get a Top 3 pick. I'll laugh if Vaughn gets them into the 8th seed.

Ruined by day this haha. Doesn't matter, makes the LA Showdowns even better, imagine if we could still compete with them with Dwight which I think we can. Just because they've added Dwight doesn't mean everything's just gonna click with Dwight/Kobe/Pau, whoever. It might but we've seen first hand that superstar players need time to fit in, like Miami.
Lakers look scary on paper though.

^Keyword is on paper. If Laker fans thought Bynum joked around too much, they'll really enjoy Dwight. Plus, he's a horrid free throw shooter, so thats where Hollins and his 6 fouls can come into play.
As long as Jordan is able to improve his defense and consistency on defense, I'm still confident we can take the division. Dwight out for the start of the year (as late as Jan I've even heard), so we need to start out with a bang and try to get ourselves a nice cushion in the division. Team defense needs to be improved as well, and I won't be shocked to see a ton of zone D either.

there's only one basketball and their great starting five can't score that ball all at the same time.
tyson chandler and Kendrick Perkins give Dwight problems.
all we have to do is focus on us...as it pertains to this deal? DeAndre becoming a better defender so he can give Dwight those same problems.
I personally think we have the best player in this matchup on our side, athleticism and quality bench that should be able to light it up and defend.
I'm not conceding the division or the west to the Lakers....sorry.

Blake vs Howard could be fun

There will be very little of it, but DJ vs Howard probably won't be that fun for this side, neither will Howard vs Hollins, or Howard vs Turiaf
there's only one basketball and their great starting five can't score that ball all at the same time.
What does this really mean? That is true for every team

What I'm interested in is if the Lakers are still going to run Princeton offence as stated a few weeks ago. I can't see it working with a back to the basket big with limited face up range.
So they slow it down and pound it inside in the half court? What does that mean for one of, if not the best transition point guard we've seen for years? Does he turn into a spot up shooter, or does he dominate the ball playing pick and pop/roll with Pau/Bynum, turning Kobe into the spot up shooter?
I'm sure they'll figure it out mostly, but it may be more difficult than thought with a poor offensive coach in Mike Brown.

I feel like the C position matchup is still the same. Bynum already gave us problems, so the difference is Dwight's defensive presence.
There's a lot to look at when these two face off. I think our second unit will be a big deciding factor in a lot of top team matchups (like it was against Memphis in the playoffs). If it works out according to plan, it's a great advantage over other teams. Bledsoe terrorizing on D and mismatches with Odom to open up shooters in Hill, Butler, Billups, and Crawford.

I don't think we had a chance at Howard. We probably could have made a better offer but it wouldn't have been worth it. We weren't on his list so it would have too risky to give up the rest of our assets for him. The Lakers have improved a lot this offseason. However Bynum always gave us problems. We are bigger and deeper on the frontline this year. DJ really needs to get better now, because any improvement in DJ is going to counter the upgrade Howard is from Bynum. We have a lot of people to foul Howard too. While the Lakers have improved their roster on paper from a strategic standpoint I think we have area's to attack them now. We can play hack-a-Dwight. I also think we can attack Steve Nash on offense and leave World Peace uncovered on defense. However with Vinny as coach these strategic advantages mean less.

wouldn't it being true for every team make my point even more?
the rest of my post goes to demonstrate that I think there are areas where we have advantages over this team and that we can be better than them or beat them (who knows...we'll let the play do the talking)...that's all i meant.

The Clippers should try to sign Andrew Bynum next by dumping DeAndre Jordan to another team.

Yea, but you said it as a disadvantage, so I was confused as to how that differs from any other team. It's just how basketball is, there is one ball, only one person can score for any team at one point in time.
The rest of your post didn't seem to address why only one of them being able to score at a time was an issue.
You mentioned that DJ could possibly give Howard problems, but that isn't related to only one of them being able to score at a time, just the Clippers being able to defend one of their guys better. Perkins giving him problems is overrated though, and that was as a first option go to guy. Now he's playing with an elite PG, a SG that draws attention, and one of the best lob and high low passing bigs in the league. Containing him is no longer the defenses primary focus, so it will be easier for him. Chandler on the other hand, he's great at defending him and literally shuts him down, not one of those fake shut downs.
The advantage is that they have 3 really efficient scorers plus Kobe, but the bigger advantage is that Dwight is a DPOY level defensive anchor. I'm just not following how only one person scoring is an issue for them or any team really. The whole advantage is when each person that scores does so efficiently and even more so, with volume, then your team is efficient offensively.
Now I do believe the Clips can beat them in a game, they aren't unbeatable. With a healthy Howard for the whole season, unless DJ becomes a DPOY level guy, the Clippers defense doesn't project to be good enough to have a better record though. The thing is that Howard won't be healthy for the beginning of the season, so we'll see how that plays into things.
