The Clippers will hold their 2012-13 Media tomorrow and training camp will officially begin this Saturday.


A brief update on some of the players:

Chris Paul has just started doing layups without the brace. He'll be able to participate in some drills but will likely avoid the contact drills. He will be cleared for full contact within the next 2 weeks. He will be ready for the start of the season.

Chauncey is ahead of schedule and is expected to return to practice in mid-October. He has been cleared to take part in limited team drills. His goal is to be ready for the season opener.

Caron is healthy for the start of training camp for the first time in years. The hand fracture that he suffered in the playoffs is completely healed (and didn't require surgery) and he was able to trim down and work on his conditioning.

DJ has been working on his post-moves, shooting and his defense.

Blake hired a shooting coach over the summer to correct his shooting form and eliminate the hitch. He's also put in time to further develop his overall offensive game.

The Clippers will host an inter-team scrimmage open to the public at the Galen Center on October 3rd @ 5:15pm.

In addition to Courtney Fortson, Marqus Blakely will be on the training camp roster. Both have been with the Clippers in the past and have spent time with the Rockets.

Health updates courtesy of Clipper Steve:

Trey Thompkins is still rehabbing from the bone bruise he suffered in the playoffs. He's expected to return to practice sometime after the team returns from playing in China. Neither Trey or Chauncey will travel with the team overseas.

Rounding out the training camp roster, Trent Plaisted, Chris Johnson and Hank Thorns.


Trent Plaisted
6'10 F/C, 240lbs, BYU

Plaisted was drafted 46th overall by the Sonics in the 2008 draft. He has since played on a couple of summer league teams (76ers and Bulls), and has had stints in Italy, Croatia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Turkey.


Chris Johnson
6'6 SF, 201lbs, Dayton

Johnson averaged 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 39.7% from the perimeter in his senior season. I'm not totally certain, but I think the Clippers worked him out for the draft.


Hank Thorns
5'9 PG, 165lbs, TCU

Thorns averaged 13.5 points and 4.6 assists while knocking down 39.2% of his 3's in his senior year at TCU.

Players have always used training camp to get into shape, but damn. Hill is almost 40, Billups is 36 and coming off of an Achilles injury and they both are looking fit. What the hell did he do all summer?

I still think he'll get it together (eventually...hopefully), but it's better to hit the ground running rather than trying to work up to a moderate jog.

Blake will be on Petros and Money (AM 570) around 6pm to talk about training camp and the upcoming season.

I've tried asking Madelyn everyday on twitter this summer about LO and she never replied. And now I know why

Odom doesn't look to bad just a little older. Man Hill never ages and we need to get DJ some body mass enhancement pills or something make him bulk up like Howard did.

The #Clippers have hired shooting coach Bob Thate to work w/ DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin. Thate pupils include Jason Kidd, Mike Miller
