Who gets the DND's this season?

Post#1 » by Don Tommy » Wed Oct 17, 2012 9:44 am

I was looking at the starters and key reserves for tonight's game and wondering what will happen when Billups and Trey come back. Who doesn't dress? Trey I think is a lock, even though a good shooting big man is something this team needs. But who else? Billups and Hill taking turns, reducing their workloads in the regular season? I'm not sure either player will be happy about that. Hollins or Turiaf? Possibly, but we would really need a lot out of Odom in order to give up the front court depth. Could we actually end up being TOO deep? Or could this possibly work in our favor when it comes to the trade deadline?

Ryan Hollins, Willie Green, Ronny Turiaf, Trey Thompkins, Travis Leslie, and possible Matt Barnes, but very few for him.

Did the active 13-man roster stick from last season or was that only for the lockout shortened season?

Thompkins and Leslie are the most obvious. Outside of those 2, I hope it would be Green if the active roster goes back to 12.

Isn't Willie Green tabbed to be the starter? If we can dress 13 that's great but I thought that it went back to the normal 12 for this year. I don't think we will ever seen Barnes not dress unless injured. He sees to bring a defensive intensity to our second unit that I have been surprised with

I meant Green if everyone was healthy. Although it should probably be Green no matter who else was or wasn't playing.

I finally looked up the roster rules...

Breaking news: 13-man NBA rosters to become permanent; Waiver rules could be altered

ORLANDO – NBA rosters are going to stay at 13, permanently.

The league’s competition committee met Friday and will recommend two rules changes to the Board of Governors, including one that will make 13-man active rosters permanent and another that would change the waiver wire rules and give teams 48 hours to put in a claim — and not just on weekdays.

League vice president Stu Jackson said representatives from the 30 NBA teams voted unanimously to recommend making the current 13-man active rosters permanent for next season and beyond. Prior to this season, teams could have only 12 active players and up to three inactive players, but this season — because of the lockout shortened schedule — teams have been allowed to dress and use 13 players.

General managers and coaches like the added flexibility of having another player in uniform, hence the move to make 13-man rosters permanent.

“The sentiment amongst the committee is you’re required to have a 13-man roster as it is, and if you’re required to have a 13-man roster, you should be able to dress and have their services available,” Jackson said.

Chris Sheridan, Sheridan Hoops

With that said, I would expect it to be Thompkins and Leslie if everyone was healthy. If a player is injured or sitting out to rest, then one of them will likely suit up.

yup. trey and travis will ride the pine or shipped to D league. i do expect at least one of them to be back and playing by next season as we lose some vets and spend whatever remaining bucks one at least 1 decent FA, just to fill out the roster. my guess is trey. travis leslie will be playing overseas after this season.
ehhhhh f it.
