Chris Paul and Jordan Brand host 'CP3 Day' in Los Angeles

In honor of "CP3 Day," Chris Paul and Jordan Brand put together a fun-filled family event at the L.A. Fire Academy on Sunday. The turnout was phenomenal, as hundreds of children and their families from all across the Los Angeles area - some even coming as far as Palmdale - came to see Paul and his celebrity friends get together to play a game of hoops.

Fans that made it out also got a chance to try out the new Jordan CP3.VI, which released its timed regional exclusive "Nitro Pack" on Saturday. The brightly colored sneakers were featured alongside a variety of cars and scooters with similar color schemes, highlighting the flashiness of the Paul's game but also his love of car culture.

As afternoon crept into evening, the celebrity game took place inside the gym at the Fire Academy. With a packed gym full of CP3 fans, captains Common and The Game brought out their celebrities teammates, which included the likes of former NBA star Jalen Rose, actors Pooch Hall and Anthony Anderson and former New England Patriots linebacker Willie McGinest. The game was full of highlights and nice plays, in particular from The Game, who was rocking the Atomic Green colorway CP3.VI as he was knocking down three-pointers to go along with a few nice finger roll layups.

As a surprise treat for the fans who might not have been expecting it (Paul was in Utah on Saturday for a preseason game), Paul took off his warm-up jacket for the second half and played on Common's team. The All-Star then proceeded to show why he is considered to be the best point guard in the game today. Teaming up mostly with Jalen Rose, the professionals would put together a nice variety of plays, with one well-known NBA media guy actually getting a taste of Paul's famous competitiveness. But while he did show that fiery side at times on the court, Paul was also taking time out to shake the hands of fans in the front row and even signing some autographs for the kids while there would be breaks in the action.

In the end, Common's team would get the victory that was capped off by a buzzer-beating three-pointer from CP3 himself. Post game, there were plenty of people who got a chance to thank Paul for the event, take pictures and hang out for a bit before going home. Not bad for a guy who plays on the other Los Angeles team, but don't the Paul that. He wants to make the Clippers the team in Los Angeles, and with events like this, he is on well on is way to making that happen.

In addition to some of the celebs named above, Clips Nation's Steve Perrin (aka Clipper Steve) also got to play on the court. That was a nice experience for him :)

While Paul did not play in the first half, he did receive his "CP3 Day" proclamation from the City of Los Angeles during halftime.

I could declare some things about you though, but I'll keep it classy. :)
