^ agree 100%!!!

But who do we get to fit our personnel?
From the top of my head, here's a list of available HC but i have no preference thus far:
Phil
Sloan
Nate Mcmillan
Budenholzer <-pop's long time assistant
Shaw
Van gundy brothers
Rambis
Mike Brown <- obvious no
Larry brown

phil won't come to us
sloan is great but out of touch
nate blows
budenholzer is a curious option. could be great, could be terrible
no to shaw
stan i like
no to rambis
no to brown
YES YES YES to larry. i love larry brown. but he too likely out of touch.

honestly, there just isn't a very good market for a HC material right now. vinny is probably as good as what we can realistically get, unless a real vet like jerry sloan or larry brown comes in AND able to have the team buy into it.

larry brown as HC with bigshot as his first lieutenant assistant have a potential, but if vinny won't play DJ in fourth, larry will just make darko milicic out of DJ if he was here. i dunno this one is not gonna be easy.

i say let CP3 pick his own coach and go from there.

I like larry too and i think the only reason darko got benched because they were at a win now mentality back then plus they had other talented big men (big ben, okur, old man campbell, mcdyess, sheed). Plus larry was just there 2 seasons and then flip saunders replaced him. DJ will get mins just by sheer talent level of the backup bigs imo.

I think Vinny is just getting caught up with all this "distribute the minutes to keep players happy" idea and it eats up some of DJ's mins (not saying that distributing is wrong but VDN needs to adapt properly when certain players are out)... I mean, mins will make players happy but, ultimately, wins should make them happier.

But yeah, i think cp3 should get his pick of HC when he re-signs, i mean he's one of the reasons why we have this deep roster so i trust his judgment lol

Sloan is probably the best fit.
Malone.

stan VG blames players too much....i like accountability...but not public/ post game accountability....could u imagine him this year?
"and i mean....what are u supposed to do? u have the most athletic PF in the game last night only pulling down 8 rebounds...."
:nonono:

Jeff VG....starting to wonder if he was a product of Thibs...and his offense was poopy....yikes...seems like a more expensive del negro.

Larry Brown WOULD be out of touch....WOULD BE....but say Chauncey signs on for another year...and grant stays...he'd have the ear of the locker room....CP3 isn't DJ Augustin and he wouldn't be able to treat him like crap to get what he wants out of him.

i would take JVG the offense will come but we are getting beat down defending the three we need better direction we won't win a title this way

i have never been happy with vinny and was a vocal leader of the "fireVinny" crowd from the old forum, but i say he deserves a break right now.

our best player is out with knee injury

our second best player turned his ankle a couple of times last week

our third best player has only played a couple of games this season and sits next to CP

our smartest player just returned from a season long bone bruise

our 8 million dollar back up for blake just got in shape and still plays highly inconsistently

if everyone is back and healthy, we are the best team in this league and we played like one. right now, we need to adjust our expectations. aside from all the injuries and players missing time, right now we are running with 1 PG on the roster and that is bledsoe. eric is just not a playmaker/floor general that other two are. having eric start is making life more difficult for our bench players too, as jamal is now the back up PG and everyone slides one position over. odom yesterday took shots he should have never had to be in position for, all these are effects of our missing players and us playing a patch up ball with what we've got.

yes we are still a talented bunch, but we are obviously a car with all the power that lacks the driver. i think vinny will do just fine once our real starting back court is back.

^ oh i agree that firing vinny NOW is a mistake. The last thing we need at this moment is an impulsive move that will get our team out of sorts - we don't need unnecessary chaos atm since we're looking to re-sign cp3. Offseason, though, is a different story but that will be down the line and we're just speculating (some more harshly than others) lol.

Can't wait to get this team healthy! Btw, does anybody know what's going on with trey? There's no status at all on his rehab. I'm fearful that his injury might be worse than reported :/

ned just saying ride out the season but just get a new coach next summer.

the excuses you provided doesnt change the fact he cant call a play after timeout. he still cant play dj 2nd 1/2.

cant tell his players they got no timeouts. doesnt fix the weakness(we all know the 3 ball d is bad. and it stays bad)

doesnt go to blake more often.

oh most important. if you got the lead at the end of a game . hold the ball till 5 sec and then try to jack up a shot philosophy.

just to list a few. i am not blaming him for the loses for say. i am blaming him for the coaching.

stan chokes in crunch time too. NO thanks

OMG! Really?after 4 losses? from what I recall we had a 4 in a row loss streak before that long win streak. We are one of te top teams and it will turn around. I'm sorry but all the coaches you mentioned are not a good fit. Sloan!? no way is he a good fit. The team loves VDN so he will stay as long as they want him on board. VDN has the best wuinning reord of all Clippers coaches. How can you argue with that. I blame the losses on shots missed not coaching but I guess you have to blame somebody.

I wanted to wait to comment on this thread. I do agree that Vinny doesn't need to come back. The only way I'd be OK with it is if we win the Championship. But as we've seen that without CP3 and Chauncey his coaching is lacking. And like I've said before we shouldn't make a coaching change in season and I don't see it happening. We'll just have to wait until the off season to see what happens.

i am with you on your main points, but to say vinny's record is indicative of his coaching talent is absurd. give bill fitch, larry brown, or mike dunleavy the same roster and they would have done just as well, if not better.

but yeah, we should stay the course. 4 game losing streak and fire a coach while we are one of the top teams in the NBA mid season will just make us another causality of being a laughing stock

dunleavy was not a bad coach, just a coach who is out of the modern times. mike was a micro manger with a bible sized playbook, who dictated every offensive possession by the book. you could say he was an anti-vinny.

mike was stuck with boneheaded players who were incapable of absorbing his style of play such as corey maggette who felt asleep during film sessions, but do not underestimate him and his resume as a NBA finals coach for the fakers in early 90s and a former coach of the year by taking the jailblazers deep into playoffs. the man can coach, he just could not coach while being a GM to a bunch of bad attitude slackers of modern times. he made smart but lesser talents like Q Ross into a force while here, made an average players like corey into a star, took this team deep into playoffs on the back of a career year of an undersized PF like elton and a washed up sam cassell the minny FO practically threw away.

give that 06 roster to vinny and he would turn us into a lottery team.

but mike would probably clash with CP3 here as paul won't take the micro managing style of mike. vinny with all his faults do have his players like him, unlike mike

and maggs was amazing player.

EB was a stud before this injury.top 5 pf at the time.

sam was always good 1st year with new team(look it up)

also he was carrying miny team with kg and bunch of hot air.

he was bit like cp3 except old.

vet presence is amazing on young team(that had kaman still who had good couple years)

dont forget about cat....

No way bro Bill Fitch was the coach I hated the most. He really slowed down B.Barry's development. Everytime he made a no look pass or fancy play he would bench him. Hated, Hated< hated him the most of all coaches I've ever experienced.

You think Dunleavy micro managed? Cp3 would def not be a fan of Sloan.
