The Los Angeles Clippers today waived forward Trey Thompkins. The 37th overall selection of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Clippers out of Georgia, Thompkins averaged 2.4 points and 1.0 rebounds in 24 games during his rookie season. He did not appear in a game this season due to a left knee bone bruise.
"We want to thank Trey for his contribution to the Clippers,” Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro said. “Unfortunately, he was never able to truly showcase his talents this season due to injuries. We wish him all the best and believe he has a bright future."
The Clippers roster currently stands at 14.

I think we'll add somebody soon. We have 13 players and Wayns who is on a 10-day.

I wonder what where looking at, who to add... I don't get keeping Thompkins for so long and never even testing how he can help our team. I wish him well. He seemed to have good chemistry with the guys.

He was the opposite of Wolverine.
Hopefully Trey get a chance to play this summer and maybe prove himself in the D-League next season.

Hmm...I wonder what player the team is looking at, a big or another guard?
I really wanted to see what Trey could do on this team, but it seemed like he could never shake the injury bug. What kind of player do you guys think the team is looking at? A stretch big, a guard until Bledsoe is back? Guard doesn't make much sense since Green is still available.
Maybe a guy like Troy Muphy (though he's sucked lately)

I'd expect us to be interested in a stretch big.

Yea, that was my first thought, though I'm not sure who's out there. They are either injured or unproved. Troy Murphy, Mehmet Okur, Josh Harrellson maybe, not really sure who they would be thinking of. Should be interesting.

I was really rooting for trey to come back and play well.
We definitely need a stretch big.

I think Trey still has a shot in this league. I remember in the preseason and earlier in the season, there was a lot of rave about his smooth jumper. =p

Disappointed in Trey. Very talented but extremely soft. "injuries" have always hampered him... smh.

Was K-Mart going to make a difference in a game like last nights? He can defend, but he also fouled a lot, was a poor rebounder and was useless on offense most games. Let's not get too nostalgic, he doesn't really do anything significant that Odom can't do right now for the team. The problem last night was not man to man defense in the post which is Martin's biggest asset.

I liked Kmart on the Clips, but he and VDN just didn't mesh. We need to shore up the inside, DJ at 10 million per season is not "Fair Market Value."

I would like to see Vinny take the chance and go with DJ for bigger minutes every now and then. He's played >30 minutes 7 times this season, and Blake was out for two of those. 3 of them were also against Utah, so I have no clue what to make of them.
DJ's length and shot blocking presence is still very useful, and VDN needs to at least see what he can accomplish with him in larger minutes on the defensive end.

when blake and DJ are out.
id rather see Lamar n K-Mart doing work then Lamar and Turiaf/ Hollins.
poor this...poor that...nostalgia w/e.
me no care.
kenyon thought he was getting a large role somewhere.
he thought wrong.
we shoulda picked him up around the time he was complaining about how he's not a bad person n should be picked up.

I meant to comment on this earlier. I wasn't expecting the team to waive Trey. I kinda feel bad for him, he hasn't played all year and gets cut towards the end of the season. Best of luck to him and I hope he finds his place in the league.

I hate to see him go, if only for his towel waving skills
Seriously though, he seemed to have good chemistry with everyone and the little I could see him on the floor he looked like a player with a few useful attributes, good shooting and not bad instincs for a young kid.

Who's going to hold everyone back from getting onto the court when an exciting play happens?

It'll be DJ if it happens in the 4th.
