he did a fine job in three years, but we all knew he should be replaced after this season unless they won a Conf. Championship.

kudos to him for helping take this team to the back-to-back playoff appearances and a division title but the credit/appreciation really belongs to CP3 and Bigshot.

Vinny is a good guy, and I always said he got more hate than deserved. He was an average coach, not a bad one, and he was a good encounter and seemed to be a very good listener. He didn't hold players back or limit them, he gave them freedom. I liked that about him, he just wasn't a good enough defensive teacher to help the young bigs on this team who aren't quite there yet defensively.

this is like the end of Entourage when Ari is on the patio overlooking some European waters with his wife and his decent life sitting on millions of dollars and the guy gives him a call telling him theres more out there.

Vinny....you were our patio...or European waters at some nice hotel :lol:

and now it's time to go beyond that and get a ring.

I've always said I liked Vinny, the man. He's been blessed to have been able to coach the likes of Rose, Noah, Paul, Blake, etc. in his young coaching career. I still think that there's tons of room for growth for him and I hope that he continues to improve. I do think that someone out there will give him another shot. It'll probably be an up and coming team that can afford to have patience as they attempt to progress to the next level.

vinny would have been no better than bob weiss if given bob's clipper roster. bill fitch could have gone further if given vinny's roster.

good luck in charlotte, vinny. go visit your mom and work for the charlotte franchise, a young rebuilding team like them can use your service.

I think you're right. A team to take a chance on hm will be a young team. I constantly hear people on ESPN point out that the Clippers set a season win record in 2013 and won their first pacific division title...then they fired the coach. But i resent that they announce Vinny this way because you cant overlook the fact that his post all star game record was drastically different than his pre alls star game record and his decision making was a key part of our series loss to an opponent we beat 3-1 times this season with homecourt advanatge and one of the deepest benches in the league.
I think that Vinny accomplishments seemed grander than they really were, after all our first division title and setting a record with the amount of wins we did spoke more of how bad our history really was. As many here are saying Vinny wasnt a terrible coach, but he wasnt a good coach either, and the decision to make him coach was a bad one because this team had the right pieces to contend, and who knows if we can assemble a roster like this again because this appears to have been the last year of solid production for guys like Hill, Butler, and Billups..who will most likely begin to decline

Thanks Neddy. I heard that Vinny made some comments today, but I hadn't actually heard them.

I understand he's disappointed. I do believe that he and the rest of the staff put in a lot of a hard work, but there's no sense in pointing fingers. He felt certain players on the team weren't good enough and tried to have them moved so that the team could perform better. Likewise, players and others within the organization felt that the team would be better if there was a new coach in place to take the team further. Of course Paul and Blake are going to have more pull than Vinny. He tried to make moves that would makes his life easier and better his situation, but they're just doing the same.

People keep bringing up the record, division championship, etc. They're supposed to be good when they have the caliber of players that they do. It's not like Vinny was coaching the likes of Corey Maggette, Chris Kaman, Tim Thomas and Dickau and led them to greatness. The same people complaining about us firing him, would be the same people saying the same old Clippers making bad decisions when they have an opportunity to make a splash.

The team did have holes that Vinny could only do so much about. They should have made that Ariza move if it was Vinny pulling for that. Clearly he also wanted KG, but that was out of his control, again, another move that would have benefited the team.

There was nothing Vinny or any other coach could do about the lack of shooting from the front-court, which affected spacing, and the lack of wing defense. Vinny isn't really wrong with those comments, the team had holes, they tried to fix them, some of their attempts worked, some didn't, and they didn't make any moves during the deadline to help that. Still, Vinny also is still growing and, learning as a coach, and he tried, but couldn't instill a good enough defense for the team.

It's interesting that he mentioned Popovich and how something that is overlooked is the players he's brought in. Guys like Diaw, a stretch big that can handle and pass, shooters like Green, etc. I think Vinny would do well on a team that allows him to have more security and help the team grow while tweaking the roster. It's always easier when you have an All-Time great of the caliber of Duncan though.
