Clippers Send Bledsoe To Suns To Acquire Redick, Dudley
Jul 02, 2013 5:57 PM EDT

The Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns have agreed upon a three-team trade.

The Clippers will acquire J.J. Redick and Jared Dudley, while sending Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler to the Suns. The Bucks will acquire two second round picks.

Redick will receive a four-year, $27 million deal as part of the sign-and-trade.

I'm pretty pissed with this. First off, I think that's way too much money for Redick and second off, Bledsoe should've been used to haul in much more than a goddamn free agent. Then even though we were looking to get rid of Butler, he's a pretty hefty expiring contract and again could've landed us something bigger. The Bucks and Clippers got screwed over by the Suns imo. They landed Bledsoe and a nice expiring contract for Jared Dudley of all people.

its a good pickup. dudley is a quality rotation player. he is better than caron at this point. dudley and reddick will solve alot of your spacing issues

I'm not pissed with who we got, it's just the fact that this is what Bledsoe landed us after all the other rumors. I would've much rather had Afflalo.

this deal is sucks.

the only thing i can hope is that Dudley is our starting 2, Reddick comes off the bench and we're looking for our SF.
if not...our run is finished, just as soon as we started.

Eh...what about Crawford then?

I think it's a solid move for the Clips who're now set at the wing positions and can now look to add a backup point guard and bigs.

Current Lineup:

Paul/?/Crawford
Redick/Crawford/Green
Dudley/Bullock/Barnes as well?
Griffin/?
Jordan/?

BTW: Dudley's a solid defender and a guy who can shoot it from deep.

I agree that Afflalo is a better player than Redick overall.

If they wanted just wanted a shooter, they could have signed Morrow for cheap. He is just as good of a shooter as Redick. However, he was benched on both Atlanta and Dallas last season.

I really like Butler, but I think Dudley is a better option at this stage of his career.

Thanks clips fans. My suns finally got a good deal. As for Dudley.....you guys will love his on the court play. He never gives up and will give u everything he has. Very good spot up shooter. He is also very good coming off screen and rolls for shots. He won't break anyone down one on one. He won't be doing more then 10 dunks for the year. Basically he is a very very good shooter and a dirt worker.

Last year it was Barnes and Odom. This year it's Dudley. I fully expect Andre Miller to be a Clipper next season.

I have not been a fan of Dudley in the least and that's been no secret. He's a good fit though. Wow.

We still have the MLE. So it's not over yet.

I'm going to really miss Bledsoe and Butler. Bledsoe for his potential and Butler for his character and toughness. I wish them nothing but the best in Phoenix.

we're not talented enough and not tough on the wings.

i wanted to get tougher, quicker and very athletic on the wings.
we are none of those things after that trade.
we are just better shooting.

Mayo was awesome because he could shoot and score...but most importantly, he is tall n long enough to give CP3 relief when we're playing RW, Derrick Rose etc. etc....or he could chase Conley to give him relief.

wtf is Reddick gonna do man?

the deal sucks.
and we're still nowhere near as tough as we need to be...particularly in our starting line up.

I like it, JJ is a high IQ Player & I think he will fit in nice w/ CP3. Dudley is a bull in a China shop & will set picks, run through the lanes & create space for Blake. Bled is good, I don't think he is better than Dragic and he may never be, EBled is at his highest value right now. We still have some money & a couple spots to fill... be patient

BulldogCharity, I get that you like both teams, but I find it less than respectful that you are flashing Kobe & the Trophy. Stay here and contribute, that is cool I just think you need to know that you are choosing to come to the forum of the Cross Town Rival........... Just a little advice, thanks for thinking about it.

Maybe we sign Tony Allen with the MLE and Crawford gets traded for a stretch 4/5? Who knows.

The MLE is going for a back-up big, no doubt.

Bullock plays D, I don't think Barnes is coming back at this point.

It's a solid return. Dudley can perfectly play SF and is one of the best 3&D guys in the league. Redick is obviously a good shooter and his defense is bit underrated, he's not great but he's not Crawford bad. And we fill both of our wings with solid veterans which was something that started looking more and more difficult in the last few days. Now if we can split the MLE between Barnes and Landry I'm happy going to war with this guys.

One question, why is everyone on twitter saying that we're hard-capped at the tax apron after this deal? is it because we used the MLE on Crawford last year? couldn't we in theory offer just the miniMLE this year and get over the tax? not that it matters, but I'm curious.

I agree completely. We lack toughness and that's something that Afflalo would've provided. There's really no more deals left for us to make other than spend the MLE. And no matter who we get with the MLE, it won't make enough of a difference. We went from having a chance to be title contenders depending on what we did with Bledsoe and Butler to being a 3-6 seed once again.

Our wings are set now , hate it or love it. JJ got overpaid though

JJ - Craw - Willie
Dudley - Bullocks

I don't mind it.

I like the addition of Dudley more than I like adding Redick for 4 years and $27M.

Overall it could be a good trade if we can add 1 more good piece. I know we all had our hopes up for Bledsoe trade but we sold high with him. He'll always be exciting to watch, but I think there's a ceiling as starting PG.

I generally like the idea of surrounding CP3 and BG with shooters to create floor space. Especially if everyone buys into Doc Rivers and plays hard at both ends of the floor.
