a decent stretch four. brings some skill sets that odom couldn't provide but was signed up for, last season.

he is a better shooter than Odom, but that's about it. He has always been a poor defender. I'd probably rather have Odom than him.

yeah i agree, even though lamar disappointed greatly in terms of his offense, he did bring rebounding and interior defense that our other bigs often lacked. for all his size and hops, hollins is a poor rebounder and so is turiaf. i would much rather have odom back than have turiaf or jamison, if i can only pick one out of the three.
however, i posted the salary breakdown in another thread and i think we have enough room to bring in odom and sign jamison. in that case, i think it is a decent move. not great, but good depth signing as a situational stretch four.

Jamison would be a very good pickup for what we still have left IMO. I don't think we had to renounce Odom's bird rights so he may still be back. Jamison would be an upgrade over Turiaf IMO so if we bring back Odom we should be in better position in the front court. It all depends on Doc's ability to coach up DJ.

I think the Clips should still strongly explore trade options for Jordan. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not optimistic for his long-term development. Doc is a very good coach, but I don't think he can work miracles- which is what he'd have to do to make Jordan a good center on both offense and defense. He has very limited skills on offense. He should be a decent defender, but is out of position too often and needs to lift some weights to gain strength.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow ... 6532.storylooks like we are near signing jamison, and turiaf will be back.
odom, according to this LATimes writer, is the odd man out.

I'd like to see an upgrade over Hollins before we are done signing bigs. Jamison would be a nice piece but we really need someone who can defend and rebound down low to avoid a similar fate as last year.

I say trade Jordan also, been saying this since the pass trade deadline...he makes far too much money to only play in the mid-20's in minutes...$10 million could've went to someone like Al Jefferson or something, someone who can at least score the ball...

nonono
al jefferson is a horrible player overall, whatever the offensive flash he gives you he gives it right back on the defensive end.
DJ, with all his faults, and yes he is not worth 11 mil a year but he actually has better winshare, better defensive rating, better separation between offensive to defensive rating, better rebounder overall and much better offensive rebounder. al is better at scoring, and defensive rebounding but al is not better than DJ at what we need our center to do.

if we give up on Odom for Jamison....who is Jamison going to guard?
after he got punished in the 2010 conference semis, i haven't seen why a team would want him.
we got bullied last year in the playoffs. how in the hell does Jamison solve that?

good question.
i don't understand that part either. jamison couldn't guard zbo or mark gasol, so against grizzlies we would have to rely on hollins and turiaf again. but i guess the FO is determined to get a stretch 4 to open up the middle for blake on offensive end and that need is apparently bigger than on the other end.

You're gonna kill me for this.
but at this point.
I'd give the Suns Crawford and Willie for Frye....roll the dice on Bullock developing.
throw in a pick or something to sweeten the pot for them to take it.
the risk is all ours with his heart condition.

Well we could possibly be looking to sign someone else after signing Jamison. Someone like Birdman or Jermaine O'neal perhaps, guys who can't be bullied to easily.

strictly from basketball stand point, i get your reasons. frye is a true stretch big who can moonlight at both 4 and 5. crawford gives us a great offensive threat but he is a huge liability at the other end, but i would rather not give up both jamal and willie as that move will thin out our depth at the 2 and forced to play the rook a heavy bench minutes. they do have a glut of PFs on their roster tho.
also, if we acquire frye via trade, that would immediately make jamison signing useless as he can't play 3 anymore.
if bullock shows any sign of being a good rotational player and a NBA caliber shooter as advertised, i would fully expect the FO to decline jamal's option after this year and thrust reggie into jamal's place.
