Chris Paul 'excited' to stay in L.A

"I'm excited," Paul told ESPNLosAngeles.com. "I'm excited about everything that's going on with the team. I talked to my wife about it because I told her it was going to be a family decision. We even let 'Little Chris' chime in on it. It's pretty cool to know where you're going to be and to know you're somewhere where you're wanted. The fans have been amazing. I told my wife I felt like a rookie all over again just because I'm excited about the unexpected."

"I'm so excited to play for him," Paul said. "Words can't describe it. Doc is amazing. Everything that has happened doesn't automatically translate into wins but it gives you an opportunity to win so I'm excited about the process."

Paul smiled when he thought about all the players that have taken less money this offseason to be a part of the team the Clippers are currently putting together. He cautioned that it doesn't necessarily mean anything but being a part of the Clippers' current culture change is a big reason he returned.

"It's a process," Paul said. "It's been fun to talk about basketball. Me and Blake [Griffin] have been texting and talking every day. It started with Blake. To have a guy as unselfish as he is and play the way that he does, I'm excited about playing together and I'm excited about what's to come."

i remember the era when superstars were the ones taking pay cuts to bring in extra players, now it's the extra players taking pay cuts to bring in more extras.

oh well as long as we win.

I was thinking the same thing. If you are all for role players taking less money to help fill out the roster, why can't CP3 do the same? His commercials bring in extra money. We could sign any backup big we want if he takes less than the max.

The only way CP3 taking less money would make a difference is if he took significantly less,2-8 million less would still put us over the cap wouldn't it?
Anyway I'm really happy to hear that he talks to Blake frequently, their bond is really important for the team.

I think the FRINGE players know their place on the team & it was such a learning experience last year they are looking at a ring this year.
let's give Barnes some Love & Credit, this guy just waited until the Clips had done their Free Agent Business & it was his turn; there were teams that wanted him & would have paid him more $$$, but he is a team guy 1st & that was proven to Clipper Nation.
CP3 has to be paid TOP $$$, it's an Honor Code thing & his team mates understand that, I sometimes feel that he is a "Backroom Lawyer," but credit him for putting word out that don't come & get me, I'm Clipper Nation!
Now lets see if it translates us to playing in June.

Him and Blake still seem to have a great bond, that's why I've never understood reports of them not getting along.

You can almost feel, just from a fans point, that theres mutual respect and there both so passionate that maybe thats where small arguements have come from. That's a good thing though. If there texting every day.. thats just great.

According to Michael Eaves the presser will be 12 pm PST on Prime Ticket. He also mentioned that it's going to be streamed somewhere - I assume in foxsports website.

He could take less to keep the team under the tax level which helps in terms of the types of moves you can make and what exceptions you get.

If the Clippers don't pay Chris Paul the max, there are 29 other teams in the league that would love to pay him the same amount (if they could) including your Raptors. Currently, there are not 5 other players in the league that make a bigger impact on a team than he does. Are there better players? Sure, but only a couple that are hands down better. You can't look at it like only LeBron and Durant deserve the max, while everyone else should get less. If a GM looks at it that way and doesn't already have one of those 2 players, he'll be shooting himself in the foot by passing on some of the league's best players. Paying the best players big bucks is not the problem as they would get even more if there wasn't a specific salary structure in place. It's overpaying for marginal talent that is the biggest issue.

On your Raptor thread you brought up paying Griffin. Griffin is already locked up for the next five seasons, so there's nothing to be concerned about on that end either.

One of the dumbest things I've read. Ne one team who wouldn't offer Paul the max....
You can't
