Reading random articles which have the Clips as a 53 win team,not even mentioned in the same breath as Houston and GSW who because of those acquisitions are apparently the GOAT teams.
I can't wait for the season to show the world what we got.
But anyway more to the point of this thread,are the Clips getting underrated in your opinion or are they where they are supposed to be

The Western Conference is a tough place, there are about 6 teams w/ legit shots of making to the finals, yes I think the Clips are one of those teams. The Regular Season is about positioning for the playoffs, where it only matters on how deep you make it.
I think people were expecting the Clips to have a better playoff RUN last year & were disappointed when they were knocked off in the 1st Round, the 4th & 5th Teams in the WEST are so close in talent.I think the main reason Doc Rivers was brought in was to show this team how to play playoff basketball & win. Teaching Playoff Basketball is basically re-learning how to play the game again, in a system; it will be interesting to see how DJ will rise or fall to this test.
I also think its better to be a little under rated the high expectations last year really didn't pan out, did they?I think Training Camp will be a KEY, if players are working hard, keeping their mouth's shut & listening to the Coaching Staff we should be humble enough for a Special year. I have very little confidence in this new coach, but Management, the players & the fans seem to think he is the "GUY" that will take us to the promised land, I am reluctantly hoping he is.

And most places I have read its heat/Indy/okc/spurs/clips

Exactly. I'm not really worried about being underrated, and the Western Conference is tough, though yes, I would say the win potential is higher than last season in the same circumstances, but we do have to factor in the West being better this season.

If the Clips can add Harrington, I like their chances even more. They still need at least 1 good back up big man or Jordan needs to be improve by leaps and bounds. Otherwise, I still think the Clips will struggle against the best in the NBA. I hope I'm wrong, but my head tells me that there is still a bit missing for them to be the best in the NBA

Agreed, the backup bigs still need a legitimate shooter, and a trustworthy defender. Harrington can fill one of those roles, interestingly enough Odom can fill the other. DJ needs to improve either way though

yeh we've been overrated the last few seasons, I personally love if where getting overlooked. From a fans point and a players point, I know if I were a player I'd prefer it that way. Less pressure, just go out there and play ball. Last season especially we were built up TOO much.

I think we are getting 'overlooked' because of not only our poor playoff performances but also our roster. If we look at our roster in terms of bigs, besides blake griffin, we are not at a level high enough to compete. If BG doesn't perform his best, like against memphis in the playoffs, then our team becomes an inconsistent jump shooting team. I'm hoping for a franchise record win season coming up! but the playoffs are another beast.

Put me in the camp that would rather exceed expectations than fall short of them.

Whenever a team has new additions, be it on the coaching front or primary players, there's always uncertainties. How long will it take them to gel? Do the players coming from bad situations see an uptick in production/performance or do they remain the same? Do the returning players improve or stay the same?

I'm hopeful, but a number of things could happen which could sway things up or down a few games. One article had Miami projected to win 59 games, which is a 7 game decrease from last season. Obviously, 66 wins isn't probable for any team, but the only real loss was Mike Miller. It's just a projection, but it doesn't mean too much at the end of the day.

Most prognosticators have us somewhere in the top 5 of the west, which is saying a lot considering the tough competition. The top 5 western conference teams had a minimum of 57 wins last season, which only happens every so often. Now Houston have to be added to the mix along with GSW who have replaced Denver.

Didn't Vegas have us 3rd? Behind Miami and okc?

I don't think they are underrated but you look at the roster, and I honestly think its not much improvement over last year, defensively you downgraded but offensively you upgraded, with this roster I see another 4-6 finish in the west and another possibility of a 1st rd elimination. I mean in the West you are only considered safe if you are 1 or 2 and from those other top 5 teams, I see the Clips having a tough time with all of them except maybe Hou cause we still don't know how that is going to turn out, I would say they have a shot against Mem as well, but the backourt was the difference in that series and that hasnt changed for either team. But we will see I believe the Clips will make 1 more move before this is all set and done and that could be the difference maker.

The Clippers upgraded their backcourt significantly in my opinion. JJ Redick is leaps and bounds better than Billups or Green in their current forms. But I would argue that the front court was the difference in the Memphis series. People seem to forget we lost Blake in that series which all but handed the series to Memphis.

Finally somebody said this,my god I felt (Please Use More Appropriate Word) thinking if he got injured or not.


Anyway injury ridden season ended with 56 wins and 1st round elimination
Now we upgraded at the 2,3 and coaching staff so imo no injuries is a very very huge thing for this team,we could've easily added a couple of wins had Paul not had that stretch of injuries

he did get injured

injuries will be a part of every teams season though, you just gotta hope it's nothing major and especially to our 2 stars.
