I'm loathe to cite TMZ but to ignore it would be irresponsible. In any case, would anybody be surprised if LO (IQ) had an addiction beyond a big sweet tooth?

TMZ Staff (8/23/13)
Multiple sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... Lamar has had a problem for 2 years...

We're told Lamar actually stayed clean once he left rehab and was able to play well for the Clippers this past season. But when the season was over, sources say Lamar slipped deep back into hardcore recreational drugs.

This is not a good look the team has still yet to find a quality bench big

That really explains why he was so out of shape at the beginning of last season. This is bad news for Lamar and the Clippers.

"Lamar Odom has been deep into crack cocaine for at least 2 years ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ broke the story ... Lamar has gone off the rails with drug use ... which is the principal cause of the crisis in his marriage to Khloe Kardashian. As we reported Lamar went to a rehab facility a year ago this month and stayed for 3 weeks before bailing -- and we're told the problem was crack.

Sources say Lamar's crack use was extreme before he went to rehab, but he cleaned up his act during the basketball season that just ended. Sources say shortly after he hung up his jersey, he started again with a bang.

As we reported ... Khloe threw Lamar out of the house a few days ago after he rejected an attempt at an intervention.

It's unclear how Lamar's problem will affect his basketball career.

We made calls to Lamar's reps. So far, no comment."

I thought he may have been doing a little bit of blow not smoking cracking. Clippers need to stay far away from this guy. Its a shame since we really need a defensive big.

Well I guess this might explain why we didn't sign him ages ago when we obviously could have used his abilities. What a shame. So does that mean Jamison is back in the mix, or maybe Johnson? That, or our FO has a lot of faith in our current bench, which on paper, still leaves a lot to be desired.

Well, I didn't think it would be crack based on his appearance. If true, then basketball is not really an option right now. He has other things that need to take precedence in his life. I hope he exorcises the demons and gets the help he needs.

Do you really need to poke fun at him in the title? Obviously he's going through some tough s*** right now. At the end of the day, we're all just fallible human beings.

I have little to no sympathy for a wealthy professional athlete who's been placated his whole life and shown himself to be an immature and selfish individual who continues to not listen to advice from those who actually have his best interest at hand. He chose his path so let him live with the consequences. Compassion is a great thing but providing it to the point of enabling and indulging such behavior is not doing anybody any good.

Plus, he's screwed this organization over more than once, so I've never been a fan of his even when we brought him back this past season. There are plenty of people who have problems that are not of their own making. He's had opportunity most others haven't and still has an opportunity to turn things around...if he so chooses to finally grow up.

Don't get me wrong, I understand addiction is a serious problem, but again, he brought this upon himself. The world is overpopulated with plenty of stupid people who do harm to themselves and others, so I'm not going to waste sympathy and time on people who are wasting space, especially on these so-called celebrities. Harsh but true.

No need for both Jamison and Mullens. I'd rather have Jamison and Ivan Johnson. Front court will likely be problematic this season

Only dumb thing here is the thread title and people taking what gossip media says at face value.

This sounds to me like classic middle class kid attitude of trying to pass judgement on something middle class kids can't relate to, or really understand, mixed with a bit of envy for talent related wealth. Seriously, if you can't empathize with someone not living in as stable an enviroment as you've had the luck to be on, just don't try make a shallow judgement based on a TMZ article.

Basketball wise, I hate Jamison's game (and most remaining free agent's too) so I think I'd rather have Lamar as unstable as he could be. But it seems like Jamison's gonna be the choice.

Ya to bash LO bc of his addiction or problem really isn't cool. I'm 24, was physically addicted to alcohol by about 22 and went to a rehab/detox last summer for it. Been fine since then, and yes I obviously did it myself. Noone else to blame. But it's not something to bash someone about, no matter who it is.
I hope LO can get himself back together.

Jamison related. Don't like the addition as he provides jack **** on the defensive side

Shaming is a loss art.

Like I said, I'm loathe to cite TMZ but other media outlets are running with the story, plus, the Clippers have moved on from him in pursuing Jamison, so put 2 and 2 together.

Talk about passing judgment, so just because I'm not making excuses for the dude, I'm apparently some kid who grew up in the safe environment of suburbia? Hate to break it to you, but I grew up in a gang-controlled area with a single-parent. You know what got me out? Holding myself accountable. Call it jealousy or whatever, but I'm not going to feel compassion for a guy who had it much easier than most everybody else. He sulked when he got traded to the Mavericks, then he got his wish in playing professional basketball back in L.A., so he can't be happy with that?! On top of that, he's got a family who supports him to do the right thing even if it is the Kardasians.

If you want to feel sorry for someone, pick a charity and do something about it instead of wasting breathe on pampered "celebrities" who've only had the hardships of making the right choices and associating themselves with the right people. Let's form a support club for Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears while we're at it. To me, it's an insult to those people with real struggles, especially those in third world countries.

I may be a jealous meanie, but again, instead of sitting back talking about how sorry we should feel for others, why don't you actually do some good for some people or animals truly worthy of your empathy and sympathy?

I'm sorry to hear about your previous struggles, mttlwsn16. I don't know what led you there but I'm glad to hear that you found the strength and wherewithal to make a recovery and are doing well now. I apologize if I seem cruel in my judgment, but having followed the team and Lamar's career, I just don't have it in me to find compassion for a guy who, in my opinion, has had it relatively easy compared to everyone else.

I am bitter but I'd like to think it is not out of jealousy but rather anger that people should know better. Admittedly, I doubt I would have the strength myself to make the recovery you have.

If my comments offend you, let me know and I will refrain from posting.
