If the Clippers were sent as a team to Alcatraz, who would you want on your side most watching your back?
I’d definitely take Matt Barnes. Matt would be one of my biggest allies right there.

At the Red Bull Midnight Run, you said that it’s the end of “Lob City.” What do you expect to see instead?
I think our main approach and identity is going to be playing defensively. Everything that our coaches have talked about has been all about defense. Transition defense. Defending a three. When you come into the season with that as your main area of improvement, it kind of changes your focus. It’s not so much geared towards the up-and-down and run-and-gun.

Where are you looking to grow most as a player?
Defensively. I think this is a big year for me to step up and have more of an impact on the game overall. Being a leader. And this summer, I’ve really been working, doing a lot of face-up stuff. Understanding where I’m going to be in the offense, what my options are, and trying to be more of a facilitator this year.
