Greivis Vasquez makes his debut for the Kings on Monday. He and Paul obviously don't like each other as you can see from the above video. Vasquez is one of many new faces for the Kings this season, which also include new owner Vivek Ranadivé, rookie SG Ben McLemore, rookie pg Ray McCallum, Carl Landry, Luc Richard Mbah A Moute and first year coach Mike Malone. DeMarcus Cousins has a big new deal and Big Shaq Diesel is now a new partial owner of a franchise he belittled a little over a decade ago. After a stressful 2012-13 campaign in which there was a huge threat of losing their team, Kings fans are hopeful for the new direction that the team is heading toward.
The move that has me most intrigued is the hiring of Mike Malone. Malone was high on my personal list of coaching candidates heading into the offseason. I'm more than fine with how things turned out for us, but was a bit disappointed to see us miss out on him at the time. He is the son of a coach and has been a well respected assistant around the league for years. They have had coaching issues since Rick Adelman (who reached the playoffs with a winning record for each of his 8 seasons with the team) and the Kings parted ways. Aside from Adelman, the 1982-83 Cotton Fitzsimmons led Kansas City team was the last Kings team to have a winning record in the regular season. Will Malone eventually be able to help turn things around for the Kings on the court?
