Might as well cover Magic and Kareem's statues too. Those banners are part of history and shows it's the Lakers home.

And those banners will be visible during Laker home games, so why bother to complain about it?

it's a clippers home game tho. Don't worry magic and kareem will be wearing clipper jerseys when the playoffs come around. Like when the kings put their jerseys on magic

Does this mean the Clippers will show their one and only banner now?

That's the entire point when the Clippers play a home game Staples Center belong to the Clippers. Its a great brand move. The banners will be shown during Laker home games.

I really like the idea. I remember during the down years some players found it depressing looking up and seeing all the Laker banners. Now Staples can have much more of a Clippers feel.

I believe the one banner that we have is being displayed in the practice facility.

1) No need for the Fakers stuff

2) Not sure why this wasn't being done before

3) Can't understand how anyone would be complaining about this. Clippers games have nothing to do with the Lakers games. Might as well be saying they shouldn't change the floor tiles to Clippers ones because it shows it's the Lakers home. It's the Lakers home when the Lakers are playing, not when the Clippers are playing. Staples has more than one tenant.

It's a bad idea because everyone knows what's behind those banners.

It's a bad idea because it's shows their insecurities.

It's a bad idea because their should never be a championship banner covered up with scrubs like Jared Dudley, JJ Reddick, and Matt Barnes.

Well said. They can change the outside, the lights, colors. But hiding banners is a bit far as they SHARE the arena. That is just disrespectful to the Lakers, the retired players and all the work everyone put in to win those rings. Also like someone mentioned they are not fooling anyone, we all know what they are trying to cover up. And yes the Clippers are a better team but both LA teams have lost in the same round of the playoffs the last two seasons when the clippers stopped being garbage, so this whole we are the team in LA movement is premature as they have done NOTHING. LOL Matt Barnes and Dudley blocking Magic, Kareen, Shaq, Wilt jersey what a disgrace. Somehow the LA Kings banners can not be reached, but if the Clippers were a hockey team they would smh

Edit: This will be the talk of the town today in LA. Especially since the Dodgers lost. It was a bad idea from the beginning to have both teams in Staples to begin with. Insecure fanbase and franchise, how the hell is this going to help them win anything of note....specifically a championship ?

Yeah both teams share the building, well hell actually 4 teams share the building.

Do you see the Lakers covering the Kings Division and Championship banner ?

Do you see the Lakers covering the Sparks 2 championship banners ?

I'm gonna say what some probably won't, the Clippers and their fanbase is probably the most insecure sports franchise I've ever saw.

Not mad at this and most will probably try to say Laker fans will be, but this is funny and shows the low level of confidence they have about playing in that building.

It ain't no problem though, the Clippers are paying us anyway....you know since a certain percentage of the Lakers is owned by AEG.

Yo Donald T....keep paying that rent mutha f***

I was critical of the Doc Rivers hire and folks on this BOARD have told me that Rivers is the Leader and I will see it in his actions. This is a move that I feel states "We are here and this is our home!" Yes, Laker fans will talk about Banners & Championships, but the Lakers only have a handful of Rings @Staples.
Someone has to change the culture and CP3, Blake, and DJ have done a good job, Doc seems to have this group thinking, working & walking w/ SWAG, that builds confidence and potential playoff runs. I am still a little tentative to give Doc coach of the Year honours, but even I admit that he may be the right guy to lead the Clipper charge. Good job Doc on calling for the cover up of the Laker Propaganda and owning his decision.

Lol, people are weird.

This didn't happen because Clippers fans were complaining about having to see the Lakers banners, I've actually never cared and don't think I've ever heard anyone even mention it. It seemingly happened because they were like this has nothing to do with the Clippers franchise and presentation, so let's put stuff that you know, actually does.

The logic of insecurity doesn't even make sense. The Clippers are loosing all these years then become insecure after they become the better team? What? How does that even process in someone's mind as making sense?

Best part:
I'm gonna say what some probably won't, the Clippers and their fanbase is probably the most insecure sports franchise I've ever saw.

Huh? I remember he we all complained and petitioned for them to cover the banners because we felt so inferior to them, then finally they did it after long negotiating....oh wait, that never happened.

If anyone's been insecure since the Clippers became a good team, it's the Flaker fans. Anything positive the franchise does for it self, Flaker fans whine and talk ****. They just can't handle seeing the "little brother" grow up. Flaker fans, you need to deal with it.

The fact you actually think Laker fans are actually bleeding over this is amazing and idiotic. Being real about the whole thing all the Clippers are doing is one making the place feel like their fans are at "their" game and home arena. Secondly it's just drapes of their players.

The banners are actually secured to the wall, it's not like the Clippers had AEG maintenance members unbolt them from the wall and trash them.

But that was really a low class move though.....what type of brownie points are you trying to score ?

What point are you trying to prove by outing guys on our board to another board when we are entitled to any point of view on our board at any time ?
