it actually might benefit the clips to try to trade him for a decent big. maybe someone like a hawes?
1) After Hawes play this season, he might have convinced the Sixers to re-sign him and
2) Hawes would actually be theoretically a good fit next to Noel with Noel playing a PF role like Anthony Davis is
3) Even without that, Crawford is the last player that makes sense for Philly in such a trade. A young player or a pick or something is what makes sense for that team.
So in a three way trade of some sorts, sure, but Crawford still has value to the team as a scorer off the bench, and Collison has struggled a bit. Of course with the theoretical Hawes, the bench can do a lot of two man game with Hawes and Collison and then use Hawes as a passer and one in a while in the post. That can "make up" for the lost Crawford production.
Still, Philly would need a lot more incentive for that one. It's the kind of trade one would do in the summer when it isn't as expected and Hawes hasn't been playing so well yet. He's way above his career numbers though.
.631 TS% - previous career high .517 TS% (avg .510)
3.8 3PA/G - previous career high 1.5 3PA (avg 0.9)
49.1% 3PT - previous career high 35.6% 3PT (avg 33.7%)
53.3% FG - previous career high 48.9% FG (avg 47.0% FG)
18.0 pts/36 - previous career high 14.6 pts/36 (avg 13.8 pts/36)
116 Ortg - previous career high 105 Ortg (avg 101 Ortg)
20.8 PER - previous career high 18.0 PER (avg 14.4 PER)
per 36:
18.0 pts / 11.0 rebs / 3.3 asts / 1.7 blks
So he's certainly playing a LOT better than the player he's been for his career. The 3PT% shouldn't last at 49%, which at the same rate will bring down his FG% to high 40's / lower 50% range, and his TS% to mid-high 50%. We'll see if he sustains this play, but the consistent minutes are certainly helping.
