Clippers To Sign Stephen Jackson

Post#1 » by Wammy Giveaway » Mon Dec 9, 2013 8:32 am

http://espn.go.com/blog/marc-stein/post ... en-jackson

The injuries to J.J. Redick, Matt Barnes and rookie Reggie Bullock have forced the Clippers into looking for help on the wing. There is also consideration that a trade may be necessary in order to make room for Lamar Odom, who is rumored to re-sign with the team pending the new year. Stephen Jackson will reunite with Matt Barnes, both of whom were teammates in the 2006-07 Golden State Warriors team who upsetted the Dallas Mavericks as an eighth seed in the first round of the 2007 NBA Playoffs.

Former Laker Shannon Brown was also being considered, but Doc has chosen Jackson in favor of his size, 3-point shooting and playoff success with the San Antonio Spurs.

Only way it really works outside of a ten day deal is if one of Barnes or Dudley are dealt hopefully Dudley. When everyone is healthy Jackson would be limited with group but if we can move a two for one deal for a big we will be better off. Thompson for Dud and Mullens hopefully.

Clippers have no interest in Thompson. From what I've read on Twitter and on the sports lines, they want to make room for three more players.

glad to have Stephen Jack on board.

i say him n Barnes tag team n become the bash brothers like in D2.
just put Jamaal at the 1 in those scenarios. Collison aint that important.

:)

now, can we get a goon over 6'9" like Hansbrough?

Good signing. Glad to see the FO being active. I still think we need a player with a bit more star power to become a contender though.

Good pick up, a strong tall three who can defend, rebound and knock down a shot once in a while.

i think his defense isn't what it used to be, and his 3% declined greatly. but he has more dimensions to his game still to offer more than slumping dudley at this point.

plus, he is a streaky player who can get hot at the right time.
ehhhhh f it.

Just watched an interview w him about the malice and the palace and Jackson said once he and arrest and others got into the locker room, the first thing out of artests mouth was "do you think we'll get in trouble" and he was dead serious

Jackson said he doesn't regret jumping in the stands or fighting. Only regrets that it cost him $3 mil.

Baller, haha

He talks about that Artest bit in this interview, pretty entertaining read - http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/fandom ... /id/15111/

I'm not as sold as some of you are on this singing though. As much as I dislike Dudley, I have a bad feeling Stephen Jackson is done. Hopefully he turns out to be a positive contributor that we can utilize as more than just a stopgap for the next few weeks.

I think we probably need to see how Jackson plays first before making any rash decisions. Guy hasn't made shots well in two seasons and there's a reason he's still available right now.

I was hoping if we were to sign a washed up veteran who's been inactive for a year, and can shoot the three and try to play hard nosed defense, it was gonna be myself Quentin Richardson :(

I can play the enforcer role when people try to bully Blake as well, ask Pierce and Lebron if you don't believe me.

Little risk.

Post#19 » by Ranma » Tue Dec 10, 2013 3:45 pm

I initially had concerns with the signing but from what I'm hearing the deal is unguaranteed as long as he is waived by January 10th when 10-day contracts are available for use. There's still chemistry concerns for a guy with a reputation for selfish play, but given that he's been out of the league since late last season and is looking to prove himself, hopefully, he'll be on his best behavior.
