Crawford to starting lineup? (Merged)

As mentioned in @Washington game thread.

Not sure how I feel about this, especially while we are without Barnes, Reddick and Bullock. We don't seem to have a scoring threat off the bench when Crawford plays the starters role. Today for example, we had 68 minutes from the bench, plenty of garbage minutes, but we only got 11 points off the bench.

I don't have numbers handy, but I'd like to know our win percentage when Crawford starts over the past few seasons.

It does appear to be an odd move however with our disappointing games lately i'm all for trying new things. I say let's test it out and see if it makes the clippers better, that is until JJ comes back.

I'm pretty sure last night was his first start as a Clipper

Glad Doc recognized to change it up and start Crawford instead of a 12th man willie green. Just put your best 5 out there, JJ isn't doing bad by any means but according to a lot of people Ive talked too the ball moves better with Crawford in because he's not just bringing offense he's also the second best passer on this team, So he's bringing more to the lineup then just shooting like JJ. Glad to see this move finally.

I'd rather him come off the bench honestly. I just don't get why Doc just can't start WIllie Green, play him his normal 12 minutes then have Jamal in. I think it's more about minutes then who's starting.

Yes it is about minutes and the last few games jamal doesnt even enter the game until 2 min left in the 1st qtr. He should be in the game way before that willie green almost played the whole 1st qtr thats too long for him. So Doc had to find a way to get jamal his starter minutes because that formula wasent working plus willie green wasen't bringing anything to the table.

Oh wow, you're right. I was sure he started a few games under Vinny.

Still, I do worry about the bench scoring. We can't have too many 38+ minute nights for the starters if we wanna run deep.

Willie has been sucking, but it was also because the starters hadn't been starting off well. Dudley making shots obviously also helped

You can start him and still balance out the roster in terms of having a scoring threat on the floor.

Just Not sold on JJ just yet He's playing good, This has been his best fast start to his career I just know with crawford out there good plays happen I'll pick him over jj out there even at the age of 33 which is pretty unreal.

JJ and Crawford seem to be our only decent 3pt shooters. Dudley, Green & CP3 are poor more often than not. The benefit of starting crawford might mean that he gets hot earlier in games however with JJ off the bench we don't really have any bench players who can create their own shots like Crawford does.

Lol. Craw isn't even close to jj.

But till jj is back why not.
Bench is crap anyways and has no ball movement.

Seems like CP's shot has been coming back lately. 48% 3PT in the last 6 games, made 2+ in 4/6 games and shot 50%+ 3PT in 4/6 games.

Willie has been terrible so I can see why doc almost had to make the move, the rotations will just have to change a bit and you will always have to have either Crawford, Paul, Blake or DJ on the floor with the bench players.

I thought it'd screw with our flow but it's been working great for us so far. Having two ball hadlers in our starting 5 has allowed the coaches to use the misdirection to run some plays for Dudley that we used to run for JJ, and that's been good for him to get confidence and to get defenses to space the floor. I thought it'd kill the offensive rhythm of our 2nd unit, but yesterday we went on a 19-0 run (against the Spurs nonetheless) with a 2nd unit of Collison-Green-Jackson-Dudley-Jordan. Let's see if it's sustainable but so far looks like a genius move.

Glad to have JJ back the sooner the better. Side note its kind of strange how Hollins has been limited to spot duty as of late. Could be an indicator that the team knows we need to upgrade back up C spot.
