The National Basketball Association today announced that Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, Dec. 16, through Sunday, Dec. 22. It marks the second time this season Griffin has captured the honor (Nov.11-17) and the third time in his career he has won. Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat was the Eastern Conference winner.

Griffin helped the Clippers to a 4-0 week behind averages of 26.0 points (third in the Western Conference), 11.3 rebounds (ninth in the conference) and 3.3 assists. He posted at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in three games and shot 49 percent (35 of 67 FG) from the field and 87.5 percent (35 of 40 FT) from the free throw line for the week. On Dec. 16, Griffin tallied 27 points and nine rebounds in a 115-92 win over the San Antonio Spurs and on Dec. 22 he collected 32 points, 10 rebounds and four steals during a 120-116 overtime win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta’s Al Horford, Charlotte’s Kemba Walker, Golden State’s Stephen Curry, Los Angeles Clippers’ Chris Paul, Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, Portland’s Damian Lillard, Toronto’s Kyle Lowry and Washington’s John Wall.

Well deserved he has been great for the team. We get blown out if Griffin did not put up the points he did.

I told my buddy the other day, that his superstar year is coming.

right now.
Griffin has 5 fingers and a palm.
he hasn't balled them together to make the fist yet.

once this all becomes 2nd nature and he makes a fist, I expect top 5 ESPN rankings, MVPs and perennial finals contention.
i expect him to grow up and take the Batman role from CP.

no Nas, I'm not crying like a proud dad watching his only son that made it.
I'm crying like a proud fan watching our franchise grow before my eyes daily...each day, each achievement a step further from that damn Sports Arena.

I like that Nas reference :D

And no he won't be taking that Batman role from CP any time soon sad because he would have that role on 20 other teams. But he is definitely developing into the "true" second star people have been wanting,no injuries and a WCF wouldn't be too surprising even in this tough West

CP's deal ends at his age 33 season.
I expect CP to be good at that point....but I do not expect the same CP we have now.

i expect Blake to take over at that point.
CP the vocal leader...the heart n soul of team...but Griff putting up the MVP numbers etc. etc.

Paul is gonna age more like Steve Nash though,he is used to playing without being at his physical peak.
I expect great numbers until 35 albeit not the 18-20 points we're used to,maybe more of a 17/9 kind of player.
Wow you're right XD
And TNE I want that to happen as well

Maybe so.

on the other hand, Damian Lillard averaged 34 points, 7 assists, & 5 rebounds during the week while shooting 19-36 on three's and hitting a couple of game-winners. But his teammate, Aldridge, won player of the week in 3 of the previous 4 weeks so it was hard for Lillard to become the 4th winner in 5 weeks (and 3rd in a row) for Portland

I meant to comment on this earlier. Happy to see Blake get the honor again. I know Lillard had a great week but I'm biased when it comes to my Clippers. (I'll admit it here)
