Signing Sasha Vujacic

Post#1 » by McAdoo » Sun Feb 2, 2014 7:56 pm

The Los Angeles Clippers are close to signing Sasha Vujacic to a 10-day contract, according to sources.

Vujacic has taken his physical exam and could sign as soon as Tuesday.

Vujacic averaged 5.6 points in seven NBA seasons and last played for the Nets in 2010-11. He won two NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010.

Doc Outta Control: We couldn't find anyone better?

Post#2 » by Ranma » Sun Feb 2, 2014 8:19 pm

Yes, I know it's only a 10-day contract, but seriously, at least have a tryout of someone who represents the possibility of proving useful down the stretch. Reggie Bullock deserves more time at either wing position instead of wasting time and resources on this guy.

Why does Doc keep bringing in guards and small forwards when the need is a 4 or 5? The only bright spot I can see is if Sasha catches a hot streak. He could really light up the 3 ball periodically, but the front office really needs to be pondering a back up 4 or 5. Maybe there is a trade in the works. I'm hoping.

I too am wondering why we are going for another wing type player when we need a big. Granted, he can play some point, but Willy and Jamal were doing just fine. Especially with Hedo playing the point forward role as well. But hopefully it's only 10 days and nothing more.

Doc makes some interestingly random signings, lol

I guess they want to play him at SF? Maybe they are planning to shut down Dudley?

Bizarre, another guard... Is Doc trying to setup a some kind of smoke screen for a big? And out of all the guys he could sign, he signs "the machine"? I always hated that guy, and now he's getting a 10 day contract wit us lol. Why don't we bring back Brian Cook and Smush Parker back while we're at it?

Doc the coach is great. Doc the GM? :o

If he's not just paying favors to agents or something, then I don't really see the point.

JJ-Jamal-Willie-Sasha?

Sasha maybe 6-7 but i don't think he even breaks 200 lbs mark. no way he can play SF defensively, so we are getting another SG who will become a defensive liability when we go small with 3 guard lineup.

well at least he can shoot the long ball and spread the floor offensively. but i thought we are already the #1 team in offensive efficiency?
ehhhhh f it.

Lakers getting ready to trade Gasol To PHX for Okafor. They are only 3 mil away from avoiding the lux tax. maybe a trade for Kaman? We still have 2.6 TPE

Has anyone heard anything on Redick? He played about 18 minutes last night. It's been mentioned that he's banged up, but maybe he's expected to miss some time. Even if that that's the case, we still have Willie & Reggie. I'd rather see them just play a few more minutes than signing this dude for 10 days.

Kaman makes a little under $3.2M. We could pick him up if he were bought out or maybe in some kind of multi-team deal.

I think the hard part is staying under the hard cap that we have. Signing players to 10-day deals is about $50K a pop. Turk is making $470K or so in his prorated deal.

It would be funny if Kaman ended up back here after everything he was saying early on.

i am starting to worry that Doc may stunt the growth of Bullock. little we have seen him play, he can defend and has a sweet stroke. this kid needs more playing time, and surely should not get blocked by some washed up guy who has been out of NBA for the last couple of seasons... an ex laker on that of that.

lmao

This move is very confusing at this point I hope this is not a stunt the development of Bullock type thing. Why does the front office not use our ten days and try out bigs even if from D league. Doc should now the potential of young hungry bigs he had Powe and and Glen Davis on his championship team and Powe won them a game.
