Doc Wants to Rest BG & DJ More

Griffin leads the Clippers in minutes played, averaging 36 per game. That's 21st in the NBA.

Jordan is averaging 35.9 minutes.

"Griffin and DJ have played the most minutes," Rivers said. "So I would say both of those guys" need the time off.
...

"DJ, you never feel he's tired, in a strange way," Rivers said. "I don't think I've [substituted] DJ maybe once or twice all year because I've said, 'Wow, he's out of breath.' He looks like he's never tired.

"But Blake at times, he's getting beat up physically on the floor and he's running at the pace that he's running, so I would say that he would benefit the most from a break."

Doc Rivers says he'd like to give Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan a break

You know what would help? Having a competent big man in the rotation, Doc. Also, Blake getting winded due to getting beat up also alludes to the point I made in another thread where DJ is not doing enough in boxing out and battling for boards. You can't convince me that Jordan is a better conditioned athlete otherwise.

Jordan looks often winded as well I've seen a couple of times he has used his inhaler. Neither player boxes out consistently and saying Jordan isn't doing enough rebounding is far off when leading the league. Docs issue is he has no trust in Hollins and prefers to play Turk more so I suspect Blake to catch more of a break. Griffin is getting the wind taken out of him because he is an offensive option and is banging down low.

Clippers really need to add a backup big man. Really missing Craig Smith right now. Hell, even Paul Davis would be a great upgrade over Byron Mullens.

That's what happens when you consciously design the roster to not have anyone competent behind them Doc! SMH

With Redick out with the hip I'm worried about Crawford holding up.

Doc decline to resign Sasha to another 10 day deal, he said he would like to keep a roster spot open for now.

i smell a trade coming, and a multiple players coming our way for that matter.

In order to rest them more, we're going to need another reliable big. Part of me hopes that Doc and Sacks have something in mind in terms of beefing up the front court a little, but it hasn't really looked like a priority at all so far.

JCraw doesn't worry me much now with CP back, considering Clips can just give Bullock/Green more burn at the two if it does seem like Craw is getting fatigued. Barnes as well if Doc wants to go big and have a front line of Turk/Biff/DJ at times.

As far as Sasha, dude was garbage, not buying in his second 10-day not being given for any other reason. Though I'd love a trade to bring in another big, or even giving a 10-day deal for a big prospect. Too bad Ivan Johnson is out of the price range.
