Taylor Bechtold, NBA.com (3/15/14)
With Paul and Griffin possibly limited, the Clippers may need another strong defensive effort against a Cleveland team that has averaged 106.5 points and hit 22 of 46 (47.8 percent) from 3-point range in the first two games of its brief trip.
...

Cleveland (26-40) can wrap up a perfect trip with its fifth win in six road meetings with the Clippers. The Cavaliers are 10th in the Eastern Conference and still within striking distance of Atlanta for the final playoff spot.
...

Irving finished with 20 points and Tristan Thompson scored 20 with 13 rebounds in an 88-82 home win over the Clippers on Dec. 7 that gave Cleveland its 12th victory in the last 14 meetings overall.

The Cavaliers limited Paul and Griffin to a combined 23 points on 7-of-28 shooting in that game. They also held Los Angeles to a season-low point total and a season-worst 32.2 field-goal percentage.

Cavaliers-Clippers Preview

Eric Patten, Clippers.com (3/16/14)
It is the second to last “Back in Blue” home game for the Clippers (47-20) and a victory would be their 11th straight, tying the 1974-75 Buffalo Braves for the second longest streak in franchise history and matching San Antonio and Portland for the longest in the NBA this season.
...

Since being acquired on Feb. 20, Hawes is shooting 49.0 percent from 3-point range, including making three or more 3-pointers in six of his 11 games...

Even without J.J. Redick and Jamal Crawford, the Clippers’ starters have been able to keep up the Clippers’ league-best points per game. The five-man group has topped 87 points in six of the last 10 games. All five starters reached double figures in six of those 10 as well. They have done that 14 times this season and are undefeated when all five starters reach double-digit scoring. Cleveland counters the Clippers’ starting group with the eighth highest scoring bench in the league (35.2 points per game).

NOTES

The Clippers have not defeated the Cavaliers in Los Angeles since 2001… They are just 5-17 against Cleveland overall since the start of the 2002-03 season… Cleveland has defeated the Suns and Warriors on the first two games of their three-game road trip… They are 11-23 on the road… The Clippers are 28-5 at home…

INJURY UPDATE

LAC: Jamal Crawford (calf) is not expected to play. He’s sat out five of the past six games. J.J. Redick (back) will miss his 17th game in a row.

CLE: Anthony Bennett (patellar tendon strain) and Carrick Felix (patellar stress fracture) are out. C.J. Miles is a game-time decision with a sore left ankle.

GameDay Report: Clippers vs. Cavaliers

Steve Perrin, Clips Nation (3/16/14)
The battle at the point. The best matchup of this game will take place at the point guard between Chris Paul and Kyrie Irving. Irving can be almost unstoppable at times, but Paul takes a special interest in those players who would think to challenge him for the title of best point guard in the NBA. Don't be surprised if CP3 has a little something extra in his game tonight.
...

A game to forget. The loss in Cleveland was the worst game of the season for the Clippers by several measures. They scored a season low in points (82) and shot a season-low from the field (.322). Their field goal percentage was the 13th worst in the NBA this season, but coming from the Clippers, the second best offense in the NBA, it's truly shocking. Their second worst shooting night this season was .365. By the way, the Clippers are 0-9 when they shoot under 42 percent.

Nice Ranma!

Today is both Blake and Reggie's birthday. Hopefully they can celebrate with a win and actual playing time in Reggie's case.

Thanks, mkwest. I just finished completing this game-day thread. I'm hoping for a win tonight but it's a dangerous game given the Clips' surprising struggles against the Cavs, the continued absences of Crawford and Redick, and the possible ailments to both Griffin and Paul. Even still, the Clippers should get the win tonight. I'd love to have a birthday celebration in this thread for both Blake and Reggie with a victory.

So is that all it takes? I'm not really sure I'm really capable of living up to such high standards. It took me quite a while to put this thing together and it doesn't look as nice as some of the ones I've seen you guys make. Whew! :tooth

Jamal is still out. If he were to come back tomorrow and start every remaining game, he'd still qualify for 6th man of the year.

Also, with Houston's loss to Miami earlier today, the Clippers are now the only team to have not lost at least 3 games in a row this season. There have been 121 losing streaks of 3 or more games this season.

Could be 1 game out of 2nd after tonight. We currently own the tiebreaker against them with 1 more to go.

It doesn't mean much if we don't win though.

bummer

this is great news.

being up 2-1 in this series is a great advantage to have going into that April 9th meeting.
a tie would put us in 2nd.
