Much Ado About McAdoo?

Post#2 » by Ranma » Tue May 6, 2014 5:48 pm

Depends on the definition of "our team" as I believe Bob McAdoo won the NBA MVP award in 1975 for the franchise as a Buffalo Brave.

I'm wondering if the 3 points that Gorin Dragic got were really for the MVP vote, or if Mike Smith did switch the MVP and MIP votes he turned in

Blake definitely made a strong case for himself with the way he stepped up while CP was out. Now he needs to keep improving, especially during these playoffs.
I feel like he took a small step back during the GS series, ever since the whole Sterling thing. But the sample size was very small, so I'm looking forward to him being our main weapon against OKC and beyond.

Anthony Davis didn't get any votes, so I'm assuming the NBA corrected the error.

CP3's 2013-14 Standing

Chris Paul finished 7th overall in the voting and I suspect a lot of that is mostly due to the amount of time missed during his injury. Despite Harden garnering more 3rd-place votes, you're not going to convince me that he's more valuable than CP3 especially when you factor in defense; the playoffs have illustrated that even if it is a regular season award.

Although Paul finished right behind Curry in the overall rankings, he beat the Golden State guard by one tally in 3rd-place votes, which is the highest position either placed on the ballot. Again, the playoffs showed Chris got the better of Steph in their head-to-head matchups in the first round. I'll concede Joakim Noah as the 4th overall best player and more worthy MVP candidate over Paul but only for this season.

I still think that Blake should have won MIP, his game really got better all around. I just think that we have become one of the most disliked teams in the NBA (by other teams & players) for some reason & we will get nothing handed to us. Oh well, Clipper Nation is alive & well.

That speech will for sure have the refs looking to get an MVP win.

Huge accomplishment for a player who is hated the most and who most people call "just a dunker".

MVP is less about who is actually better and more about who they believe hoods more value to that specific team that specific season, so i wouldn't take too much out of it in terms of how people are viewing the players.
