Los Angeles Clippers’ guard Jamal Crawford is the winner of the 2013-14 Kia NBA Sixth Man Award as the league’s best player in a reserve role, the National Basketball Association announced today. Crawford, who also won the award in 2009-10 while with the Atlanta Hawks, joins Kevin McHale, Ricky Pierce and Detlef Schrempf as two-time winners. He is also the first player in NBA history to win the award for two separate teams and at 34 is the oldest player ever to receive the honor.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
I remember the bad times (although probably not as many as some of the older heads).
Any individual accolade that happens for our franchise, whether it's Chris Paul's All-Star Game MVP or this 6th Man of the Year award is gratefully accepted imo.

congrats to J. Crossover again.

Jamal stated that this collection of people are like a family and have the tightest bond that he has experienced in the NBA. Last summer, he was very cryptic and concerned about what the future held for himself due to the coaching change, so it was great to hear him reflect on Doc and their relationship. He mentioned wanting to play here for the remainder of his career. He also thanked Eric Miller who happens to be DTS' son-in-law.

Just watched his acceptance speech. What a classy and sharp guy. He thanked literally everyone involved with the team, including all the equipment managers, from the top of his head.

Hope to see him as a head coach some day, if he'll be into that. He seems to have a lot of the required skills for the job, and he'd probably still school most of his own players during practices. :)

Now let's see if this award will fire him up for the rest of the playoffs. You know the opponents aren't too happy when he's feeling it. As for me, pretty much every shot he takes feels like rolling the dice. Sucks when you lose, amazing when you hit a few in a row. :D

This award truly belonged to Jamal Crawford this year, he was truly awesome. There was a stretch when CP3 was out where he was playing like an All-Star. I hope we can continue to get the All-Star Jamal in the playoffs. And I love how he wants to end his career as a Clipper.

Last Year for Crawford with Clips?

now that we have Howes as our 3rd big and Baby back as 4th (rightfully so), I would think that if we are trading Jamal for anything, it must be for a starting SF? we have a ton at two guard now with Wilcox along with Bullock behind JJ

If we wind up trading Crawford it will probably be during the season. It could be at the trade deadline if we need to make some adjustments.

I don't think Crawford's getting traded. I see him staying, not just because of the Seattle connection he shares with Spencer Hawes, rookie C.J. Wilcox and owner-to-be Steve Ballmer (Steve Perrin illustrates this notion better than I do here).

In my opinion, it had to do with the Donald Sterling scandal. His evil character ruined whatever chance the Clips had at going deep into the playoffs. It took a stoic and heroic response from commissioner Adam Silver to save the Clippers from beating themselves out of the first round. But when the rigged Game 5 came into question, it was just too much. Doc felt that their first season was sabotaged, and is kind enough to give the same roster a second chance.

I asked Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders about the Clippers planning to trade players, and his response as follows:

So he wants to build on the Clipper's failures and turn them into learning lessons that could prove useful into getting out of the second round.

you have time and time again, proved to be a laker fan. if you had to choose just one team between our beloved Clippers and the hated Lakers, which franchise do you truly root for?

please answer this question honestly.

I love Crawford but unless he learns to defend he will always be a liability come playoffs.

question is what could Crawford get you? I think Even if it means not as good of a scorer but just a defender. Thats whats needed.

This is my first year on Twitter and I've been selective in choosing whom to follow as I utilize it as a real-time news feed. I've been skeptical of Chrisclipsla myself but Ralph Lawler has re-tweeted some of his material in the past and he does seem to have an inside source even if that source may no longer be available beyond this season so he's fairly connected. By no means do I consider him rock-solid but he provides a nice starting point for investigation of rumors.
