When All-Star weekend arrives in Brooklyn next month, three of the league's premier shooters will be in the three-point contest. The Golden State Warriors' starting backcourt of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson will be participating in the event, as will Atlanta Hawks veteran Kyle Korver, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Wesley Matthews of the Trail Blazers and J.J. Redick of the Clippers will also be in the contest.

Quality Competition

That's an impressive lineup of contestants. This is one of the few times in recent years that I can say that everyone in the field deserves his spot. Wes Matthews is the only possibly questionable entry, but that's if you're trying to argue for someone who hasn't made the list.

why is Wes questionable?
doesnt he lead the league in 3P makes while shooting 39.8% from there?

This is could very likely be the highlight of All-Star Saturday Night.

Is Belinelli going to defend his title?
Redick “Excited, Honored” To Join NBA 3-Point Contest
“I don’t know if I’ve ever been in the conversation, but I’m just excited and honored to be a part of All-Star weekend,” Redick said.
Redick thought there was a chance during his best shooting year in Orlando where he would get in, but he didn’t get the invite, which instead went to Ryan Anderson. Now Redick, currently in the midst of his most accurate 3-point shooting season of his career, will get his wish this year.
“Some years I’ve made plans for All-Star weekend like way in advance,” Redick said. “But my wife and I have talked about it for the last six years, if I ever get invited, I would say yes for sure.”
It’s been a while since the last time Redick took part in a 3-point contest; the end of high school, to be exact. The last time Redick took part in a 3-point contest was for the McDonald’s All-American Game.
How’d he do there?
“Champion,” Redick quipped. “Which was also in New York. I’m just saying.”

Clippers will be well represented at the ASG. All we need now is for CP3 or DJ or both to make the team as reserves.

I only meant to say that if someone wanted to argue the case for say Bradley Beal (44.1% on 4.0 3PA/game in 36 games), Mike Conley (41.9% on 4.0 3PA/game in 42 games), Rasual Butler (45.3% on 3.4 3PA/game in 41 games), Courtney Lee (46.4% on 3.0 3PA/game in 41 games), or even James Harden (38.5% on 7.0 3PA/game in 45 games), then Matthews' spot would be the one out of the current contestants I would consider replacing. You obviously make a strong case on his behalf but it can be argued that others are just as worthy with higher percentages albeit with lower overall attempts. Harden has close to the same attempts in the same amount of games with a similar percentage but the case can be made that the Beard has been doing it in a more impactful manner during an MVP campaign.

I'm happy for JJ and it's about time. He had a reputation as a shooter when he came in the NBA. I'm honestly surprised that he never competed in the event and wasn't chosen. I'm hoping that he wins the event in NYC.

The more I think about it, the more I'm hoping DJ makes it and Paul doesn't. Not only would be great for DJ to go and participate in the dunk contest, and for Paul to rest, but you know Paul would be really pissed off if they snub him. And, unlike other players, pissed off Paul with something to prove is the best Paul there is

Glad for JJ though, this year's 3PT contest is looking great so far.

We can argue all day about who is the better shooter but anyone can win this. It all comes down to who's hot on the day. Plus the extra training JJ might do for this event may really benefit us

I would consider Irving as the worst 3 point shooter out of all of them. However I believe he is the only one of them to have previously won the contest?
