Can't go into ESPN's website from work, is this somehow related to last year's injury?

NEW YORK -- Los Angeles Clippers guard J.J. Redick was taken out of Monday's 102-100 loss to the Brooklyn Nets with back spasms after just four minutes and did not return.

After the game, Clippers coach Doc Rivers wasn't sure when Redick would be able to return.

Redick hurt his back on the final play of last Monday's game against the Denver Nuggets and missed Wednesday's game against the Utah Jazz with back spasms. He returned and started the Clippers' previous two games against the New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs before being pulled early against Brooklyn.

"It's just spasms," Rivers said. "I think it's from that hit [against Denver]. He probably shouldn't have played, who knows, but we're just going to rest him until he's right."

Redick is averaging 14.7 points, 1.6 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 29.5 minutes per game this season.

Is Doc going to keep Jamal in the starting lineup or is Austin going to start so that Jamal can stay to help the bench...or maybe we'll see a Wilcox sighting lol

hopefully he will only miss a couple of games. if not then we need to worry. the bench is week and jamal can not defend. plus Austin can not shoot. not a good thing.

if it appears jj will be out for a while I see a trade of some kind. plus I would start Austin for defense and let him and cp3 play some point and some sg depending on match ups.

Crap. Get well soon, JJ!

Too bad this injury comes at the worst possible moment schedule-wise.

This is not good. Back spasms can linger for weeks, even months. Wilcox needs to see some burn
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

That's what I was about to say, back spasms can last for awhile. So honestly there is no time table for how long JJ will be out. My guess would be a couple games at least. We'll have to do out best without him.

We should've traded him for Chandler or Afflalo when we had the chance to :nonono:

How serious are back spasms? Can JJ still train with them or is it the type of injury where he just needs 100% rest?

Great. Backs can absolutely suck. I coughed wrong one day last year and had to stay horizontal for 3 days and missed work. Could not even move without pain, and the only time I was someone comfortable was when I was laying flat. I'd say just keep him out through the Allstar break. Give him time, no need to rush him back and make things worse.

As you get older, all of your movements need to be more deliberate. You need to have your whole body in alignment when you sneeze. Trust me.

Sometimes it doesn't make much if something is done awkwardly.

I guess playing NBA basketball is not conducive to this. 8-)

Yikes, this JJ injury hurts big time. The amount of Gravity that he presents on the floor is only eclipsed by the likes of Kyle Korver, and Klay / Steph. What he does for us is huge, especially in the first and third quarters. It'll be interesting to see how Doc plays this moving forward, as this could be a lingering injury that could see JJ miss some significant time.

Don't pull a Dudley, Doc.

I hope Doc isn't pulling a Jared Dudley on J.J. in rushing him back where Dudley felt compelled to come back from his leg issues before being fully recuperated and thus continually compounding the problem where he was less effective throughout the season before eventually being dumped along with a packaged first-round pick.

I rather JJ just sit until the all star break. We don't have too many more games before the break anyways.
