Good deal
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

I think it's a start. We needed a defensive SF that will start. Plus it's for the minumum, so that isn't bad.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Good signing. If DJ was still around I would think it was great. But still kinda numb from DJ leaving to be "the man" with 2 broken players and a once great old one...

I'm still hoping the reason we're not hearing about progress on any deals for a big man is because the Clips are talking to teams about shipping Haywood's non guaranteed deal. So I still have hope we'll pull something better than what's on the FA market.

Wes Johnson on the Clippers' Wing

Post#11 » by Ranma » Tue Jul 7, 2015 10:45 pm

Shams Charania, RealGM.com (7/7/15)
Johnson is expected to sign a veteran’s minimum deal worth $1.1 million, sources said. In Johnson, Doc Rivers has landed the commitment of a clear improvement on the wing, an athletic upgrade capable of spacing the floor and finishing at the rim.

Johnson and Rivers met on the first night of free agency, and remained in dialogue while the 6-foot-7 forward received interest from the Atlanta Hawks and New Orleans Pelicans.

I think it's a good signing.

for one, this now makes it clear that Lance isn't here to be our back up wing. he is here to distribute the basketball and be a playmaker which he is good at, and not be on the receiving end of a catch and shoot which he isn't.
this move also now solidifies our next season's projected bench. Lance-Wes-Dawson will now cover 1-2-3-4 off the pine. with Wilcox still under the contract, we are now 2 deep in every position other than center.
ehhhhh f it.

He's not good, he's not the worst. He could be so much better, but he just never got there. He's a below average minimum player and the team is bringing him in with the expectations of a minimum player level production.

Proper expectations are always important. No one is thinking "this is where he'll figure it out and become a good player" or anything like that. He's being brought in as a minimum player and that's the level of production expected. Take about 13-15 mpg and just be there for depth. Hit some corner three's and put effort on defense.

I fully expect him to be 1st team all NBA and replace DJs rebounding and shot blocking, while leading the league in 3pt %

WINGS!!! WE FINALLY HAVE SOME WINGS!!!

Apart from the bigs, the rotation is starting to take shape.

CP3/Austin/Wolters?
JJ/Lance/CJ
PP/Wes/Dawson
Blake/Baby
Hill?/Amare?/McMorrow?

Assuming Jamal is traded of course. Sad for me personally because I love watching the guy play, but its necessary.

"Beta" all you want, but obviously his environment was far from ideal on the Lakers last year, and he still brings a lot to the table from a defensive and athleticism standpoint. I may be in the minority with this opinion, but I feel like he will be a huge upgrade at the starting SF spot. Barnes was good on defense but IMO he was also made to look better than he was by playing next to 4 starters who all commanded a ton of defensive attention. All we need for him to do is to hit open threes and play active defense, which I think he is very capable of doing, and in fact I think he may actually be a pleasant surprise on things like transition. Great value pickup.
I root for players always, organizations sometimes.

I don't know how I'm ever going to forgive the Clippers' new front office.
