We've come a long way

Post#1 » by nickhx2 » Sat Jul 11, 2015 12:08 am

This is probably best served for the eve of the new season, but with Pierce's signing today I think it's probably fine just right now.

10 years ago, did you ever think we would ever have Paul Pierce on the team?

5 years ago, did you ever think we would ever have Chris Paul on the team?

Did you ever think we'd have a transcendent talent like Blake Griffin signed past his rookie contract?

Did you ever think we'd have not just one, but two franchise talents? Maybe a semi-franchise one in DJ?

Did you ever think the team would be able to hold onto three max contracts all at the same time?

And did you ever think we'd go from possibly the worst owner in sports to someone who will likely end up being one of the best?

I know that I never thought any of these things. If we finish this offseason right, you get the distinct feeling we'll come away with the strongest team in clippers history. The past couple offseasons have felt kind of awful because we didn't get the guys that mattered. But this time around it feels like we are. It feels like real progress is being made. And we will need it, given the strength of GS, and the vast upgrades SA has made. But if we close out the way we need to, I will feel pretty happy, and confident as we inch closer towards the end-game. Can't say I ever thought that before.

we did have two franchise players together once... just that both had career impacting knee injuries.

I still have 1990 Ron Harper jersey, and that dude named Danny Manning wasn't too shabby before his knees tore apart. I still cherish that team of Jackson/RIvers-Harper-Norman-Danny-Charles/Benoit+Loy. those early 90s were real fun... but yeah I get what you mean.
and it is surreal when considering that those Clipper games at the Sports Arena would at times have less than a thousand crowd, to a sell out crowd of today. long live Ralph. he's been there all through the times.
ehhhhh f it.

And you missed the biggest one of all, if I had a peek into the future 10 years ago the thing that'd make most happy would be Sterling gone.

As soon as I read the thread title, I immediately said "From where we began. And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again."

It truly is amazing where we have come from and where we are going.

Just want to mention.
As much as the Clippers have been maligned for being the worst franchise ever etc. etc.

Is it not awkward as hell for me to say that out of the 3 teams I pull for……the Clippers are the only team I've seen make the postseason 4 years in a row????
There's a number of factors that go into that but….lol…wow.
