I dunno how Chris broke his finger but sounds like Austin caught on elbow from Dawson coming down from a dunk and got his lower incisors avulsed. its hard to imagine getting your canine displaced no matter how hard you are hit, so I am assuming the report isn't totally accurate and at least one of his upper incisors also was displaced. it appears at least one had completely come out and needed to be replanted, Im guessing it's either #24 or #25. it also probably indicate that he probably broke some bone, but not a mandibular fracture, just small pieces of cortical plate as well as tear in the periodontium. he will also need root canal therapies in all 5 avulsed teeth, and that is only IF they are secured back in the bone successfully. he might have been better off with bone grafting and dental implants instead. LOL Im sure OG can drop his own opinion as well now that we have two tooth docs in the forum. :D

let this be a reminder why sports guard aka mouthpiece is needed to be worn at all times. keep your teeth protected!

Sucks for Austin, bad enough to happen in the US, really bad to be in China when it happens.

That sounds rough and like Ned said I hope Austin didn't really lose 5 teeth.

On a side note, I think Prigioni should play in front of Rivers even when Rivers is healthy. He is a steadier player with more intangibles. He comes up with timely steals here and there and actually passes the ball.

Injury Update: Paul, Rivers Both Back At Practice

Image

Head coach Doc Rivers said Chris Paul (fractured finger) and Austin Rivers (mouth trauma) both practiced Tuesday morning in Shanghai and should be available for Wednesday’s game against the Hornets.

“They both played very physical today in practice, so that was good to see,” Doc Rivers said. “That’s what I was trying to decide. If I thought they were shying away from contact, I wouldn’t have played them tomorrow, but they both played normal.”

“I hope so,” Paul said. “We go back and I’ll talk to our trainer. He’ll evaluate it and see if I can play. By all means necessary, I want to play. I’m so grateful to the fans here in China that have supported me over my career. The least I could do is get out there and play.”

Paul said the finger felt better Tuesday than it did Monday. Doc Rivers has plenty of experience handling the ball as a point guard, and he said there’s no adjustment to make with an injured finger on the off-shooting hand.

“The only adjustment is when it gets hit,” Rivers said, “and it’s going to get hit.” I told Austin and Chris, unfortunately for them, they have two injuries that you’re going to get hit in the face as a guard, so it’s going to hurt, and Chris is going to get hit in the hand, and it’s going to hurt. Other than that, there’s no way to brace for it.”

I'm surprised as to how he got 5 teeth out, then again, depends on which 5 teeth. Must have been one strong elbow.

He just did an interview stating that he has to wear a mouthpiece now.

I'll be honest. I thought at that level, everybody wears a mouthpiece.

Now I'm wondering how many of them go without mouthpieces.

Yea, I'm surprised he wasn't wearing one before. It's likely that if he was wearing one it would have helped a bit
