why not?

he bought the team for like 80 million some 25 years ago and now its estimated at 1.6 + billion dollars. I think the numbers are incredibly inflated nowadays and maybe he sees that the market isn't likely to keep up and at some point, it may even regress. CP3 is on the team, its outlook is looking great for the upcoming season, but there also is a risk of the team breaking up after just 1 season if CP3 and Harden's pairing does not work. he could lose a half a billion because he didn't sell high when he could. I see this exact devaluation coming for Danny boy in Cleveland when Lebron leaves for the second time.

what was it that Ballmer said? in 30 some years, he would break even for paying all that money to the Sterlings?

Hmm, maybe Bezos or another Microsoft billionaire buys and moves it to Seattle ...

There are already several efforts to bring a team to Seattle.

Apparently part of Nike's takeover is having each team have four uniforms. Hopefully that means we'll have somewhat something new.

Props to the Thunder unless they couldn't find any suitable sponsors. On that note, maybe the upside to our ugly uniforms is that no corporations would want to be associated with them. However, given that the marketing "genius" behind our half-measured and rusehd brand identity re-design was someone who previously worked with Auto Club Speedway, Gillian Zucker probably envisions the future of NBA jerseys as similarly decorated NASCAR stock cars.

Kyrie Irving is eligible for the Designated Player Veteran Extension (DPVE) in the summer of 2018 if he earned All-NBA during the 2017-18 season. The extension would be valued at five-years $219M. He would not be eligible for the same extension if he was traded but could sign (with the team traded to) a five-year $188M contract in 2019-20 when Irving would be a free agent. The current contract of Irving is $18.9M, $20.1M and a player option in 2019-20 for $21.3M. Irving also has a 15% trade bonus valued at $5.8M. The trade bonus would be equally ($2.9M) distributed over the 2017-18 and 2018-19 season if he were traded.

Cleveland could deal LeBron before he bails on the Cavs next year, but we know Gilbert won't be able to pull such a heavy trigger. Uehara's proposal below actually makes sense. Why lose both when you're anticipated to lose one, anyway?

hey can you imagine if we could flip Austin and Wes Johnson plus a first rounder for Kyrie? money part works, of course that could never happen but we probably is the right type of batman to our Max contract 6-10 robin.
