We’ve had a rough road and learned a lot of lessons over the last four or five years. We didn’t want to keep making the same mistakes, and I think that’s where we don’t want to lose focus.”
J.J. Redick – “I just want to be about hoop during the season. Obviously I have obligations to my wife and my son, but outside of them, I would say basketball is the focus. Our collective group…that is what they’re about, too. There’s a focus on just being about basketball.”
NOTES: The Clippers have won each of the last seven matchups against the Suns, sweeping the series last year … The Clippers’ series sweep last season was their first ever in the history of the series … DeAndre Jordan is averaging five blocks and, once again, 15 rebounds per game … Eric Bledsoe was drafted 18th overall by the Clippers in 2010, playing his first three NBA seasons with the team .. The Clippers and the Suns were involved in a three-team trade last season which sent Reggie Bullock to Phoenix and Chris Douglas-Roberts and a 2017 second-round pick to Boston, while the Clippers received Austin Rivers …

I kind of want to see DJ and Smith on the floor at the same time just to see how lethal our blocking duo would be together when it comes to help defense.

It's nice to have a guard with some athleticism again.

lance is showing us he can provide great impact without being even a solid 3 point shooter. he's been really smart using his passing to adjust and it's getting us wide open looks. i think that next level of unpredictability is huge for our starters.

these josh smith post ups are troubling. doesn't help that austin and pierce can't hit a 3.

Lance may be a wild passer but gosh damn they look nice when he pulls them off. I'm very happy with our starting unit.
Our bench literally can't do anything right. We should at least have some basic plays to try and get to the line.

Since DJ was subbed out earlier in the 1st, I thought he should have come in much sooner in the 2nd. The game changed once he entered. I like what Wes has done tonight.

dj and austin together looks like a magic recipe for success.
non-stop defensive plays and fastbreaks. i hope doc isn't dumb enough that he'll ignore this for future games. he needs to learn how to stagger his stars.

also, pierce/austin are looking really hesitant to shoot 3's. they aren't falling but those guys really shouldn't be passing them up. it's hurting us a lot.
2nd Unit Failings

The 2nd unit needs to rebound more or at least some, particularly Josh Smith. I like what Smith provides as a passer and shot-blocker, but for a guy his size, he needs to better utilize his body in his post-ups, drives, and going after the boards.

Smith would be so much more effective if we stopped playing him at C.
Agreed that Pierce and Rivers need to stop hesitating on 3's.
We need to get DJ off the court so he can spend some time with the bench unit again, otherwise this could turn ugly.
