With Blake out easy win for Bullets. We can handle the truth ;) Is Pierce still plays as SF in Doc`s scheme?

Paul Pierce Starts... At Power Forward

By virtue of being together again and Pierce starting, Doc thinks the Clippers will win lots of games. But his attachment to his guys past and present is a double-edge sword.

Per Basketball Reference...

1. Clippers record when Pierce started in the preseason: 1-0
2. Clippers record when Pierce started in the regular season: 1-2
3. Clippers record when Pierce is a role player: 17-9
4. Clippers record when Pierce doesn't play at all: 0-2

We get to find out just how powerful the Doc Rivers-Paul Pierce reunion is.

Didn't Dudley get traded because the team didn't know there was a hard cap and they used the MLE without a plan of how to fill the rest of the roster? Then they had to clear some space somehow.

Hard to justify that you traded Dudley just because he didn't perform as well as you wanted, but then you traded a draft pick and got nothing back, that's just a stupid trade if that was the reason.

Yeah, but Doc's solution obviously wasn't the right way to go. He kept exacerbating the problem rather than actually address it in a satisfactory manner. First, he arguably wasted a tremendous asset in Eric Bledsoe to acquire Jared Dudley to begin with (Redick could have been a part of any other sign-and-trade deal as an UFA). Second, he ran Dudley into the ground despite Dudley telling him that he needed to rest the tendinitis in his knee. Then he put together a roster that was not only hard-capped, but also still lacking in quality players. Finally, he packaged Dudley along with a first-round draft pick intending to rid himself of his initial mistake only to further compound the problem with subsequent mistakes from this move.

Not only has Dudley shown himself to be serviceable when healthy after the trade, but Doc threw away another first-rounder...and for what?! An extra roster spot for him to add more unproductive players. What's the point of going to a full 15 on the roster instead of 14 when you're only going to fill it out with the likes of Chris Douglas-Roberts, Dahntay Jones, Nate Robinson, Jordan Hamilton, Ekpe Udoh, Jared Cunningham, Jordan Hamilton, Jordan Farmar, Nate Robinson, and Lester Hudson?

This was the epitome of how Doc's clueless roster-building undermined his ability to coach a complete team.

Another Alley-Oop from the Dunkfest in D.C.

it bothers me that austin, at this point, is allowed to crap himself so badly from 3 while josh smith gets cut from the rotation clearly gets different treatment.

also, i think it's pretty clear that cole is instant impact off the bench. and what he does is clearly not something that disappears while you're in practice. what i don't understand is why doc was so willing to forsake cole's hustle/rebounding/defense/occasional offense/occasional passing. what coach in the world doesn't value that?
