There's a rumor that if the Clippers are unable to find a new home, they will consider one of two things:

1. Stay with KFWB for game airing
2. Cease airwave activity all together and go online streaming

This deal has nothing to do with the TV deal. Clippers have three separate deals: radio, local TV and NBA national TV. h/t Lucas Hann of Clips Nation for the deal clarification.

online streaming would be pretty cool. wouldn't be unexpected since i'd assume that ballmer would want to push things toward his own platforms on the internet.

No matter what I'm hoping we get a new play by play announcer. Brian Sieman is horrible. Every decent play gets overblown like it was a game 7 game winning shot. I hate calling for people to lose their jobs but I'm embarrassed how bad it is

NFL in LA

The NFL owners voted 20-12 in favor of the Inglewood project in the preliminary round of voting. However, it's 4 votes shy of the required 3/4 majority for an official approval. It's looking very likely that the Rams and Chargers will be the two teams granted permission to re-locate to Los Angeles. The Clippers may be competing for broadcast dollars with both teams but a partnership with the Rams or Chargers could also take place in finding local radio and TV deals.

Local TV deal for what? NFL games are always on national TV.

Los Angeles's interest are currently Lakers (NBA), Galaxy (MLS), Kings (NHL), Dodgers (MLB) and Sparks (WNBA). With the Rams coming back to Los Angeles (and a possible second team with one of either Raiders or Chargers in the mix), the Clippers will be knocked out of the totem pole entirely. Short of a relocation, the Clippers will be forced into online-exclusive streaming and podcasts.

The idea here is that the NFL can help keep the Clippers in cable, satellite and radio. Let's say the Clippers get in touch with the Rams. When they enter into any deal, they'll make a stipulation to force any company into giving the Clippers a new home if they want to become the flagship station for the Rams. It's a long shot, but America's interest has always been in the physical play of American football, so the NFL has a very popular following. NBA isn't gonna help. Why not get assistance from the NBA's primary nemesis in the NFL?

Sadly, I think the Clippers leave the airwaves and go online streaming.

Online streaming isn't bad. For ESPN games, I just use my mother's cable account via Watch ESPN. Same for Clipper games on FS Go.

Bumping this up...today is the last day for the sports format on The Beast 980; tomorrow is all-South Asian radio going forward. There still isn't any word as far as where the rest of the Clippers radio broadcasts beyond tonight's game vs. Brooklyn.

The word is Clippers will continue to broadcast on AM 980 until the end of the season.

Before they started streaming the Clipper games on the Beast app, I would listen to game radio broadcasts via the NBA app, but the audio quality sounded like the early days of audio streaming. I also had SiriusXM, where the audio quality was miles better, but the audio was always two minutes behind the game action on TV. I just hope with the format change that 980 will continue to stream the games online.
