Amazing off season for both team. Clip fans hate Dolan so it’s all the sweeter

Jerry West seems to really like Terence Mann.
And seems to really want to let everyone know about it.

I'm not saying, but I'm just saying -- pumping up future trade-bait?

It is highly unlikely that the Cavs will agree with your Kevin Love evaluation for the purpose of a trade.

not unless he's learned to shoot the 3, which is true of any swingman

6'5" tweener, can drive a bit, good effort on D, but a lousy ballhandler

lost his minutes to G-Leaguer Ty Wallace, who was also cut

non-guaranteed contract, be lucky to stick with you esp since the Cavs already have a ton of guards

our 2nd round pick [Terance Mann, see above] is already better and was given a guaranteed contract, so that's why Sindarius and Ty got the boot

Second what esqvtd said. Sin is a good guy to have on the lower end of your bench. He plays hard; he’s a SG whose shot is erratic (and who doesn’t score), but can/will play at SF (where he’s a bit undersized…and still can’t score). He’s actually an adequate defender against second unit guys, and he’s a good rebounder—but I’ll say it again. Even when he shoots the three well, he simply does not score enough; we are talking about a wing who puts in less than a point every four minutes in a good year. To compound that, he’s a lousy ballhandler (like esqtvd said) and poor passer and turns the ball over more than a shooting guard or small forward should. He’s statistically an overall average defender because of who he’s often playing against; against front line players he’ll struggle more on that end.

The bottom line is this—for right now, Sin is a significant minus on offense no matter what. That will be cancelled out by his D to some extent against lower rotation players. He’s a typical 14-15th player on a decent team. He’ll be 25 at the start of next season, which means improvement is unlikely, but possible—if it occurs, it will be because he his shot became (a lot) less erratic and he put the ball up more. I do think last year was an “off” year for him—but I think expecting more than 10-11 points per 36 on 52% TS% is probably wishful thinking. That would be a fairly significant improvement—and it’s still low rotation quality play. If you don’t expect more than a 14th man of output from him, you won’t be disappointed.

***ALL HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING***

BIGGEST NEED?
What position/role do we need/want to upgrade? (PLS CONSIDER OPPONENTS/BIGGEST THREATS)

WHO TO GET?
Who is a viable options for that position(s)?

BEST TRADE VALUE?
Who's available to trade? Who's "untouchable"? (on the Clippers roster)

....

Why did Toronto trade away Jonas Valanciunas for Marc Gasol? What are Valanciunas' weaknesses?

Backup playmaker and long third string center.

I’m still all for Jerome for Kris Dunn and a pick then wait for Dwight buyout or Noah

So no upgrade needed or wanted at the starting roles?
Is Zubac "untouchable" for you?

If we pick up Dwight, is that enough to overcome the L.B. Lakers, the Jazz, the 76ers?

Wouldn’t put him as untouchable but rather he get a chance for him improve on a strong showing last season. 22 years old showed a lot for a half a season as a starter and can only get better.

Don’t fear Gobert I fear Doc and his stupid decisions to close out games small when we struggle. As long as we don’t play Harrell from mid third quarter to end of games we will have a better chance against bigger teams. Dwight still has the skill and size to be a strong defensive force when locked in and against those matchup I would have him active just in case.

*Fortune Favors the Bold*

Is it just me or have we been lucking into things with our recent trades/transactions?

Landry Shamet was kind of seen as a "throw-in" from the 76ers perspective in the Tobais trade, but he's turned out to be a real gem for the Clippers. Heading into 2020, I wonder how many teams would take Shamet over Tobais, straight up.

Mike Muscala was definitely a "throw-in," and we were gifted a burgeoning Staring Center for him, in Zubac. I still don't know what compelled Jeanie "under the bus" and Rob Lowe* to make that move.

Maurice Harkless found his way onto the Clippers, simply because Miami and Portland needed another trading partner.

well, the key tenet of the smartest and most successful people/organizations in literally any part of life is pushing all the small edges. everything matters. every detail matters. it all adds up.

we can say it's luck that they turned out to be high value. but the part where the organization specifically targeted those transactions for were small gains was not. the FO seems to look under almost every single rock, and then a couple more times just to make sure the team's hitting every edge possible. and to me that's the thing that makes me more confident than anything else that the team will be successful for decades to come.

Yeah I don't think fortune was the reason for any of those transactions. They said they specifically targeted Shamet cause they loved him, he was actually the centerpiece of the Tobi trade along the Miami pick. Zubac fell in their hands, but they made the most of it once the opportunity arose. Then you have the McGruder transaction where they were speaking to the Heat to claim a guy off waivers that wouldn't even be able to play for them, solely for the reason that they wanted his bird rights so they could re-sign him the year after when they were out of capspace.

You compare them to a front office like the Lakers, who prioritizes getting starts and established players, disregarding all of these advantages around the edges, and you get a deep team vs a two-man team. You get to re-sign McGruder instead of getting old fat Dudley for the minimum. You get a young improving guy like Zubac that's gonna be an asset for a while, instead of washed up Cousins who doesn't fit anywhere. You get to develop Harrell who was a throw in in a trade instead of getting a higher profile flawed player like McGee. You get to spend your MLE in a guy like JaMychal Green instead of another washed up big name in Avery Bradley, etc. etc.

It's easy to mark the small things that go your way as luck, but behind each and every one of them was a lot of hours of hard work.

I trust in Mr. Clippers, Jerry West. I wouldn't doubt that they quietly targeted Shamet, but the deal doesn't happen if he's not under-valued/under-appreciated by Phila in the first place.

I didn't even mention this above, but Montrezl was a surprise. He has exceeded expectations. He' has said it himself, it wasn't until training camp that Doc even realized what he had in Montrezl after that trade.

We have a premier level organization, our guys know what they're doing, I'm not slighting them. It just seems that things, overall, are falling our way. Things are aligning. The universe is favoring the Clippers, finally.

Dare I say, these Clippers are the Team of Destiny?

i do feel that the nba world is favoring the clippers.

but i give 100% credit to an owner and a front office who enabled all of it to begin with. glad we have them.

Clips kicked the tires on Jodie Meeks:

... but after signing Pat Patt, I gotta think they'll keep the 15th roster spot open for awhile until Iggy or other veterans possibly pass through waivers

Sounds like something Meeks' agent would put out there without a lot of substance behind it. I don't see a way where adding him would make sense tbh.
